GOOD DEAL FOR THE MONEY
i enjoy shopping, but have trouble spending big bucks on totally functional household necessities. I want a product that does what it's supposed to, a product that lasts, and at a fair price. I am not willing to spend $100+ on an iron. I have always had good luck with T-Fal products, so I chose this over many others. The Pros:-- Of course, the price was right. The iron works well and does everything that is stated.--The steam DOES NOT DRIP!--The shot of stem and spray buttons work very well.--Iron gets very hot.--Auto Off feature is a big plus--A teflon plate is a must!--I like the long cord.Cons:--I find the temperature control difficult to use. It's right under the handle and my fingers don't fit very well.--It is difficult to determine the water level. All in all I am happy with this choice. I don't iron often, mostly for sewing and quilting, but this iron has worked out well for all my ironing needs!

The old one was so much better than this
I bought this iron as a replacement for a t-fal which I had for many years. The old one was so much better than this. I have 2 issues with the new one. I am very unhappy with the dial that turns it on. Positioned as it is under the handle, I find it very difficult to turn on and off and also difficult to read the settings. My biggest objection though is that, since the body of the iron is a dark blue, you cannot see through it to check amount of water. I tried calling th t-fal customer service # that came with the directions, to no avail. All i could get was a recording instructing me to contact them on-line. I e-mailed them and the response was useless. Basically I was told there was no magic trick to see inside. Just fill with 9 oz of water. Great, but how do you know when it's time to refill? I was also given the same ph# that didn't work the 1st time. Oh well!!

I bought this iron almost exactly three years ago and really liked it. It glides easily and does a great job without having to go over a garment again and again. Today, however, I noticed that it wouldn't power up when I plugged it in. I wiggled the cable right where it goes into the plastic part with the ridges, and voila, it worked again. Also it got really hot right in that spot. So that tells me that there's something wrong with the cable connection. I will not use it again and instead look for one with a swivel cord. It's sad that it only lasted three years.

Could be better
This iron isn't bad, but it isn't great either. After having it for a month or so, the steam button started sticking, and eventually it just gave out altogether. The regular steam is OK, and the iron gets the wrinkles out for the most part, but if you're looking for that extra umph, when trying to iron difficult fabrics like linen, it gets a bit frustrating. They're better functioning irons for a few bucks less than this one, but I trusted the Rowenta, and T-fal names. I gave it 3 stars because again, it's not bad, and maybe I'm the poor sap that got stuck with 1 bad iron out of 100.

T-Fal Ultra Guide iron
Finally! An iron that actually gets hot! If you want to get wrinkles out of your clothing this is the iron for you. At 1700 watts this baby gets hot. The only downside is the noise the iron makes when using the high steam control which I always use. Since my clothes now are neatly pressed, I guess I can live with the noise of bubbbling water.

For the price, not bad
Well, if you are doing heavy ironing this one is not for you. Its plate is not that nonstick, so it can give you a little trouble when you are trying to be quick. Also its vapor pressure and vapor delivery is not strong enough to open the wrinkles on cotton based clothes. One should use the spraying option or try to iron your clothes while they still have a little moist... But it is safe, which is a great advantage, its auto stop function works really well.

With that being said if you can figure it out it works great.
Since the iron is international there are no words, just pictures for instructions. The dial in underneath the handle with no settings making it a guessing game what you're setting the temperature. There is a max dot for water level but no way of telling where the water is as it is opaque and not see-through. With that being said if you can figure it out it works great.

Good Choice
I don't iron that much but needed an iron when my current one konked out. I've had the iron about a month and so far has turned out to be exactly what I wanted....It's a good quality iron at a reasonable price. It's easy to handle and heavy enough to do the job but not too heavy for my wimpy wrists. The steam feature on this iron is much better then on my last iron. It doesn't drip water on what I am ironing. Overall I am pleased with this purchase.
