This cake is FANTASTIC! Just like the real thing!
I was expecting for this cake to turn out as dense and as hard as a rock, but boy, when I opened that oven door, it smelled AWESOME! The cake was moist, fluffy and excellent, I loved it! I even recommended this cake mix to a professional wheat-free bakery that makes rock cakes. I swear, I have cheated a few times before, and this stuff is just as good as a wedding cake. Speaking of wedding cake, if I ever get married, this is going to be what it's made of. I know all you skeptics out there think I'm just probably not a very picky person, but I swear, try this cake. If you cook it correctly, you will NOT regret it! I had my brother try some without telling him it was gluten free, and he just woofed it up and said it was terrific. He was amazed to learn that it was actually gluten free. This will be the best gluten free cake mix you can get your hands on. When I took a bite of this cake, I almost cried, for two reasons; 1. This cake was everything I wanted and more, and 2. The cake was burning my tastebuds off because it was so hot, I couldn't wait for it to cool off! It looked sooo good. BUY THIS CAKE! IT WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT GLUTEN FREE BAKING!

Fantastic alternative
I am so happy that there are more gluten-free alternatives now and that Betty Crocker has finally gotten on board with making a fabulous cake mix. My daughter loves this and I admit it’s pretty tasty and comparable to Bob’s Red Mill. I’ll definitely buy it again.

Broken boxes, bad shipping
I love the product. It’s been really great to find something that’s gluten-free. Although the shipping was absolutely horrible. The boxes were all broken up. It was a shame to see.

It Will DO
It's a great product and one of the original GF version on offer that tastes like cake. With a few practical additions (use milk instead of water and increase the butter to 1 full half stick) it will pass for cake or cupcakes in nearly any setting. However, it is rice and starch not wheat so plan to use it quickly because upon refrigeration, even well covered, it will become dry and stale within about 72 hours or less typically. If you freeze them right away and serving seal they will last for months but have to be nuked when they come up to room temp. Tends to crumble easily because its GF. It has ZERO fiber so we add our own ground oat flour (about a half cup) to it and increase the liquids by a half cup. It reduces the guilt of eating pure starch and won't hit the blood sugar so hard.

Gluten free done right! But . . . grainy texture makes it less than perfect.
Raising a child with Celiac disease, I am always on the look out for products that can allow him to enjoy what all his friends take for granted. Cake is near the top of his list! This cake mix is super easy to whip up and calls for only water, vanilla, eggs and butter. It looks like cake, acts like cake and even tastes like cake. BUT. . . the texture leaves a lot to be desired. There is a grainy texture to it that I was really surprised by. I mix my own baking flours and use rice flour and Potato starch (main ingredients in this mix) and have not had an issue with the gritty texture that this cake has. I tried playing with the liquid amounts but it didn't change much. My answer to this has been to use it in layered and soaked cakes - where you fill the layers with an egg custard and soak the layers with a coffee/ chocolate /liquer mixture (depending on the age of the consumers...Since our home is gluten free, rum cake is always welcomed by the adults!) I am so impressed at Betty Crocker for carrying this product and for doing Gluten Free the way it is meant to be done - made in a Gluten free Processing Facility and certified by the Celiac Disease foundation. There are too many products labeled Gluten Free that have cross contamination issues that make them inedible for a person with Celiac. Now if they can figure out where this grainy texture comes form this cake mix will be just perfect. But, for now, there are other gluten free cake mixes that are much better.

Best GF cake mix on the market!
This cake mix is wonderful! It is moist and has a great taste and texture, plus, it is not overly salty- a problem with MANY GF things. I don't know why people are complaining because I am gluten free as well as vegan, so I have to highly modify the mix, and it still turns out great! If you want to make a lower fat version, just use 1/3 cup applesauce instead of 1/2 cup butter(or earth balance in my case). Overall, it is a great value, one of the best and most inexpensive mixes on the market. Nobody can tell it is gluten free. I love it!

GMO's
My husband purchased this to make me a birthday cake, as I am gluten free. It was a very sweet gesture but I will not eat this product. Having food intolerances makes me hyper aware of any and all ingredients that may be questionable, like natural flavors or vitamin additives as I can react poorly to these ingredients. This having genetically modified ingredients is a No-Go for me. Altering the genetics (and therefore protein chains) of foods means it's like Russian roulette to try to determine what foods I will not tolerate. The more known quantities the better my results. We made our own cake.

The easiest & most consistent mix for Gluten Free
I have been using this mix for over 10 years! It is easy to use & always been consistent. I like to add a package of pudding mix to this when making a cake, it adds more moisture. Also great to make dump cakes or cookies. Just use a replacement for any cake mix.
