ACDelco Professional 45D1103 (19186712) Front Upper Suspension Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly

I would have preferred to have ball joints replaceable but on this item they are not, thankfully cost is not too prohibitive only problem is when you do not have a serviceable ball joint and have to go this route a wheel alignment is a necessity. When you torque these to specs it crushes the holding pockets down onto the bushings(as it should) and if you have a rookie alignment technician with zero skills they will try and sell you a caster/camber kit for some exorbitant amount of money which is totally unnecessary. That is after they try and move them and bust out your alignment pins, good technicians seem to be a dying breed, fixing things is a dead art, now we just have parts destroyers and replacers. All they have to do is pry out the flange a bit so they move freely. Just beware and keep an eye out when you take it in for alignment, if an old man is doing your alignment don't sweat it, if some young buck is on the job buyer beware.

Installed on 2006 Suburban 2wd. Exact fit ( need a small screw driver to guide in bushings), Came in a plastic bag with no ac delco label. I called AC Tech dept. The part number on the bag AXB2605308, is the part that would be in the ac delco box with label part number 45D1103. Wonder about warranty replacement if needed, but part looks identical to original. Only has the letter J cast in the metal, no other id numbers. You will need zip ties to secure the ABS cable since it was attached with one of those plastic clips that break when removed. Otherwise took 45 minutes to replace (no corrosion on my bolts). U -Tube has good how to install videos.

After thoroughly inspecting the upper control arms, I found them to be nearly identical to my OEM upper control arms. These were installed on a 2004 Chevy Silverado z71 5.3l crew cab. Over the years the OEM arms rubber bushings became squeezed as they broke down and the bolts were tightened to take up the slack. So when installing the new ones I used a crescent wrench to slightly bend the rearward flange of the trucks mounting bracket. Thus gave me the extra 1/4" needed to make the new ones fit. The control arms I received have a black cap on the ball joints to protect them during shipment. The actual color of the ball joint boot is BLUE and seems to be rubber type material. I have used other brands in the past (name starts with an M) and have found the ac delco professional brand to fit and function much better, as they are more perfectly matched to the OEM. I included a before with OEM and after ac delco arm was installed. The boots seem to have a weep hole to prevent the boots from bursting while filling with grease. Overall I am extremely happy with the parts!

I read a few posts online about the difficulty of pressing out the upper ball joints. I decided to press out the lowers, but replace the upper arm to save myself the trouble. No complaints with this unit as it went in fine, easily serviceable. After 160,000 miles on the Yukon XL denali, this item fit the bill. One of the ball joints was cracked and was bound to fail unless I constantly put grease on it.

Well I did alot of research before buying. Was between the moog rk or the premium ck or these. I ended up going with these have heard better things about the ac delco professional. Well during my research I had heard bout people having trouble with the install about the bushings not being pressed all the way an them not going into the mounts correctly. well that definitely happen with these. I had my Tahoe apart with no other vehicle to get me to a part store for a ball joint press for the bushings. this arm did not line up into the mounts so I had to pry them out some to get the arm in. Then it squeezed back together when i tightened it. Only thing that freaked me out is that it looked like it smashed the bushings some. I hope they dont wear out prematurely. and you would think with a premium part like this you shouldn't have to do anything like this. I am wondering if I should have went with the moogs.

Trust ACDelco professional control arms. Would definitely buy again.

I would never buy this part again. It did not last even a year on my truck before the ball joint broke and I could not steer and I wrecked my truck.
