THESE BUTT PADS ARE THE BOMB!!!
These are the BOMB!! These were purchased for my daughter that flat tracks on a junior roller derby team that mostly skates on polished concrete floors.Prior to these she was wearing the standard butt pads that resembled bike shorts with bubble wrap inside, somewhat protective, low profile and not that noticeable under the typical "bootie shorts" or short skirts/bike shorts commonly worn. We were new to the sport when they were recommended (and even though they sadly are no longer required safety equipment - which I obviously disagree with - and MANY girls are not using butt pads at all) they were better than nothing. When I spotted the triple 8s online I KNEW I wanted my tween wearing these, but how to convince her of cushion over fashion??Much to my surprise - after reading all the pros (great trail bone coverage, hip & leg pads, longer legs which equaled more protected area and no creating up into the crotch area) and the cons (pads are thicker) which is ALSO a pro (pads are THICKER = better protection) to her ... SHE was sold.Read all the reviews and purchased a size larger than I thought my daughter would wear with some reservations that she wouldn't like the way the look. (I'm not kidding - it's a sport she loves - but this kid is REALLY all about how she looks!!)They arrived and fit well - not too tight - not too loose. The pads were much thicker than I expected - they looked just like the photos - but those that had reviewed were saying they were much too thin and not as pictured. Humm??So here's my girl putting on these bubble butt, butt pads, that I was sure she would take one look at and reject ... and this BIG GRIN spreads across he face and she says, " OMG mom, these feel SOOO good and if I go down in these it's not going to hurt!" SOLD!!She wears them ALWAYS! Under shorts, skirts and tutus and has taken several bad falls - but her BUTT PADS have not disappointed.Several mom's and referees have asked wear we got them ... Amazon (of course).Girls junior derby is an awesome sport - they work really hard - they go down on that concrete REALLY HARD - they deserve the protection of these pads.

Only padding that covers the trochanter, where many side-fall injuries occur. Great for Roller Skating.
I have tried over six different hip/butt protectors. I am over 40 and trying to learn advanced roller skating moves; you need to prevent injuries more than before now that they take so long to heal. This is one of the only protections I've found that will cover the Trochanter (the part of your leg bone that sticks out wider than your hips on either side). This is the place that keeps getting hurt when I fall sideways, and most pads have a big fat hole between the pads right there. This particular bumsaver (not the shorter one) has pads there to help out. I did remove the last pad on the bottom, because I don't need to protect the soft tissue of my lower thigh. Nice options to be able to remove the pads like that.I do worry about the thinness of the mesh holding the pads in place. Whenever I take it off/put it on, I worry it will rip. So far so good. Definitely washable.

Crucial! Confidence = Fun
For now, I use these for rollerblading, and someday for ice skating or snowboarding/skiing. Safety was my main reason for buying these, but the added confidence is what's best. I feel like I can actually learn, and push new limits now. These are comfortable, and fit true to size in terms of compression shorts. I'd compare them to Nike or Under Armor compression short sizes. That type of tight fit was important for me because of course these need to be worn underneath whatever pants or shorts that you'll be wearing. What keeps my review from being a 5/5 is that the critical hip pads ride a little low, so I have to hike them up and roll the waistband otherwise I'd have them above my bellybutton . After doing that (pulling them up and rolling the waistband) I don't even notice that I'm not wearing these the same way that I'd wear compression shorts or underwear. They were a little more expensive than I wanted them to be but after using them, I'd say that they are worth the $60.

I love these. Protects my hip
Use: aggressive mountain biking. I love these. Protects my hip, which won't take another direct hit. Surprisingly, not bulky under my baggy mtb shorts. Have fallen more then once in these with no injury/bruises to the protected areas.

not a joke; these literally have saved my b*tt...
I thought these would be cumbersome, worthless & chincey but theyworkare unnoticeable under board shortslight weighthandwashable- hangdriedsturdy-enoughpadded in appropriate spots.I did reinforce the inseam stitch with some HD, waxed thread since I know where skating attire seperates....but that is personal preference, not necessary.high-speed + longboards + hills + 50yr-old-skeleton = get these if you meet a similar criteria.(update : 1 year into ownership; still holding together. Both inseams required 2"-3" reinforcement stitch. Pads removed delicately & they+shorts handwashed then a day to hang dry. Good as new. I traced shape of pad inserts to add my own foam is possible.biggest add to report is these things will raise your core body temp by 2°F to 10° F they are so hot. Wear in warm months but prepare to have swamp crotch & behind. Still , does what it's supposed to & protects very well)

5 stars if they had more strategic padding, certainly better than nothing.
Remove 3 staples from the packaging and you get a free mesh bag/backpack.I'm 6ft, 175lb and ordered the large. They fit great and have longer leg coverage than I expected, a good thing! When also wearing skateboard knee pads, I have to bunch up the bottom bumsaver leg pads or else the top knee pad straps will overlap the bumsaver pads. Hitching the bottom bumsaver pads up causes a chain reaction of pushing pads up and helps close the large gap in padding around my greater trochanter (top of leg bone that sticks out wider than the hip). These disguise very well under normal pants. Makes it look like you've been doing squats.

D'ONT BUY!!!
DON'T BUY THIS. Most review i think is false. This short are really bad protection. Foam is to soft. Not protecting at all. And when you seating, the back protection pressed and become very thin, don't come back again. I'll skip this shorts and I'll buy Demon impact shorts.

Not worth it
Bought for skateboarding. The product is well made and the size fits. But it doesn’t really protect the areas I need. The pads keep moving for the hips and not enough material to cover the upper bum bone...

Discretos
Ojo ahi.
