Meh.
Idk about powerful, but I guess it would work in a home recording situation to warm up a pedal chain. I'll probly swipe the cheap tube for something Russian.

Nice for warm tones
Nice for warm tones. I have experimented many tubes in this device (AX, AT, AY, AU and AV,s). All contribute a noticeable difference in tones especially using older GE's and Sylvanias. A good overdrive tool!

Bravo Tube Booster
This little product is incredible, I did not want to take out any of my big amplifiers so I connected this little beautiful tube booster to an orange micro crush 3 watt 4 inch speaker (9 volt battery). The results were amazing, no one believed that the sound was coming out of that small amp. If this Bravo sounded this good with a battery operated amp, can't wait to hook it up to my Vox ad50vt. This is a case in which the manufacturer was right on. Do not let the delicate look fool you this is one well made piece of high tech equipment.

I've had this preamp now for about 3 weeks. I've replaced the power supply, it caused noticeable distortion and not the good kind. The gain could be more linear but otherwise I'm very pleased with it. Along with the bravo headphone amp v3 next to it on my coffee table makes a perfect apartment practice setup. Reminds me of a mini dumble. I definitely plan on buying more.

Nice piece of kit
I really like this little thing, I like to have one guitar rig that is all analog and it slides right in. (I did swap out the tube it came with for a Sovtek, I didn't really need to but I had it sitting around). I've made my own preamp before but this is much nicer so I have to give it my highest rating.

Not bad ...
This device goes between your guitar and amp and has no bypass; it is always on. That plus the fact that it is not in a rugged case means this is more of a tool to use at home for recording, practice, and general noodling around. The cheap Chinese tube it comes with can get you some gritty overdrive and boost, but if you're the kind of person who will be buying this, you might already have access to better made tubes, which will definitely improve the sound; it did for me when I put a Groove Tubes 12AX7 in.How does it sound? Like the title above says, not bad. I've tried it into three tube amps, into a solid state amp and into an amp modeling pedal that then plugged into my computer. On one of the tube amps, a Kalamazoo model 1 clone I built, it was a bit farty, but that amp is always farty anyway and this pedal did little to improve the overdriven sounds there. On the other two tube amps, a Peavey Bravo 112 and a Blackstar HT-1R, this pedal definitely added a whole lot of fatness to both clean and distorted tones. They became much more expressive and responsive to touch and the distorted tones were juicier, fatter, thicker. The cleans got a bit darker with a little less top end bite, but had more mellowness with the gain on the Bravo down a bit. Certainly much warmer. The solid state amp, a Peavey Rage 158 I use for the preamp section alone sometimes, and the digital pedal also benefited from the Bravo's tube warmth, but no as much. This is a good tool for the money. If you can build a bypass switching system for this and maybe find a durable, road-worthy housing, it might be something to consider bringing on the road.
