242252702 Water Inlet Valve for Refrigerators

Super easy to install and works like a charm!! I found a video on YouTube (not associated with the company) to diagnose what was wrong with my refrigerator and how to install it so I just referenced that again. HUGE TIP: take pictures each time you remove something so you know how to put it back together. I also realized I had to put the water filter back in for it to actually dispense water. I had taken the old one out because it was time to change it and the water valve was simultaneously dying, coincidentally. So after I had replaced the part, I was initially so disappointed it didn’t work but I put the new filter back in and I was back in business!

My 14 year old Frigidaire (with ice maker and water dispenser) was developing a mass of ice in the bottom of the freezer compartment. Based on its design, I determined that the only two parts that could be responsible for excess water in that side were either the solenoid valve array (this part) and/or the ice maker. While I knew the ice maker was just as likely to have been the problem, we also had a slight slow (5-6 drops per day) drip from the nozzle of the water dispenser, so replacing the solenoid valve array was the obvious first step. We have a whole-house style 10 inch carbon filter dedicated exclusively to the water supply line to the unit, and replace the in-unit filter annually, and our municipal water supply is pretty clean and not overladen with treatment chemicals, which is probably why we made it 14 years before any problems. This part is an exact match for the original, and it went right in. We trimmed about 3/4" of hose with a sharp utility knife before reattaching hoses, so the o-rings in the hose sockets would have a clean, smooth surface to engage. Other than that step, it was a plug-and-play replacement process. The ice is reforming still, though at a much slower rate, which tells me I also need to replace some ice maker components (or the entire unit, whichever is more economical), but that isn't a big surprise since the same sediment/scale accumulations that eventually degrade the solenoid valves in this part are simultaneously degrading the ice maker over the same time period, at the same rate. The drip from the water dispenser is gone. So, while I still have a leak inside the freezer side of my Frigidaire, I am confident that this new valve assembly was in fact a necessary part to replace, and it is doing its job.

Fit my frigidaire, super easy to replace. Ice maker and water dispenser stopped working, this fixed it. Not sure if it's great on longevity yet but so far, fixed the problem! Watch the you tube videos on replacement, it takes about 15 minutes and that is including shutting off the water and pulling the fridge from the wall.

The repair process was straightforward requiring only simple hand tools and approximately 15–20 minutes to complete. On a scale of difficulty, I would rate it a 2 out of 10.

My old valve connected with screw on adapters, I just had to cut the old lines close to the coupler, and the lines just snapped in. Easy installation!
