This thing has changed my life. Seriously.
Finally decided to try one of these after my friend couldn't stop raving on about her Diva Cup. I didn't want to pay that much since I wasn't sure if I would like it and this one is the exact same material and looks like the exact same shape so I chose the Blossom cup instead. I have never used tampons, only pads, so I wasn't sure I would feel comfortable using one of these. Let me tell you. This thing has CHANGED. MY. LIFE. Seriously. It has definitely changed my periods! Instead of my life sort of revolving around my period during one week out of every month, hindering me in what I feel like I can or can't do, now I almost forget I am even on my period because this thing makes it so much less of a hassle!! This is my second period using it. The first period, I kept taking it in and out a lot constantly worried that it was going to get full because at least for the first 2 days of my period, I have a pretty heavy flow. It was never even near full each time I checked it. I also wore a panty liner with it during the first period because I was paranoid about it leaking but I have never had a single drop leak! It takes some getting use to the pulling it out (make sure your fingernails are clipped so you don't pinch yourself), pushing it back in and what not, but once you get the hang of it, it is super easy and only takes a minute to take it out, wash it, and put it back in. I LOVE this thing. I can't stop telling people about it! Now that I am on my second period, I have figured out that I only need to check it once before I go to bed, and once when I wake up. I just take it out while I'm sitting on the toilet, dump the contents in the toilet, and then wash it with soap and water and put it back in. Or sometimes, I have found it to be super convenient to just take care of it while I am in the shower. Other than that, I forget it's even there and I don't have to worry about it at all. It is so comfortable that I don't even notice it and I forget that I am on my period. I can work out with it in, sleep in it, pee or poop with it in (sorry if that's TMI but the world needs to know!), etc. Seriously, If you are on the fence, just try it and give yourself some time to adjust to it. It will change your life and it is super inexpensive! I am NEVER buying pads again! Whoever invented these things is a genius and I am so thankful someone has given women more options when it comes to our periods! Bonus: These are much better for the environment than pads/tampons and will save you money!

Menstrual Cups for the WIN!!
One day I was reading away at Cracked.com when I stumbled upon an article explaining things that were awesome...and already existed. Guess what number one was? THE MENSTRUAL CUP. Something I'd NEVER head of. Then again, I grew up in a small town that believes in teaching abstinence as the only form of birth control and spent a whopping one health class glancing over periods. This meant that I had to rely on what my mother taught me about periods-oh snap she didn't I had to learn this on my own.I spent all of my high school life and college life using, ugh, disposable pads and tampons. They're the worst. They itch, they don't feel good and you can straight up DIE from them if you're not careful.Until I read that article, saw a photo of a menstrual cup for the fist time and decided to hop on Amazon and see if I could find any and how much they were. SPOILER ALERT: There's a lot.I spent a good thirty minutes looking through all of the different brands, sizes...things like that before landing on the Blossom Cup. It was reasonably priced and had pretty good reviews, so I decided "Why not?"THIS CUP HAS CHANGED MY LIFE. (This could be said about any menstrual cup, really.)Now, the difficult part about writing a review for a menstrual cup is that every woman is different. What works for me won't work for everyone else. I'm giving the Blossom Cup a 5 Star review because I lucked out and purchased the right size the first try. I'm 28, have never had kids and I got the small and it works just fine.In fact, a menstrual cup has shown me just how LITTLE I bleed during my period. I thought the thing would be overflowing everyday, but it wasn't. Now, a very important thing to take into consideration when buying a menstrual cup is where your cervix sits. I don't have a clue where mine is, but apparently the cup I bought was the correct size. I've heard if your cervix sits really high, then you might want to consider purchasing a larger cup. Google this. I'm sure Google will have the answers. In any case, when I first started with this thing I was TERRIBLE. I had so much trouble getting it in, and it would leak all the time! This was corrected when I hopped on YouTube and searched for some videos on how to insert a menstrual cup. This is something you NEED to do if you're having trouble. Four videos and several tries later I managed to FINALLY get my menstrual cup in easily and have it stay in place. It took me so long because there are just so many different ways to fold a menstrual cup for insertion. I landed on a video showing a fold that works really well for me, and I've been using that method ever since.Again, if you're having trouble-DON'T GIVE UP. Keep trying at it. Google it, YouTube it. Do whatever it takes to figure out what fold/technique works for you. It took me about three cycles before I got my menstrual cup skills to top tier, and I am so glad I never gave up. A menstrual cup will change your period-and your life. I'm not kidding.I used to work at a bank where I would pull eleven hour shifts all the time. I would be on my feet for the entire day and getting to the restroom was DANGEROUS because the bank I worked at was inside Walmart and that should really say enough about my bathroom experiences. (They were...so bad.) It SUCKED trying to change my tampon/pad while in a public restroom and someone decides to let their kids crawl around on the floor and now I've got a tampon halfway in there and some young boy just crawls under my stall and stares right up at me-and man it's just awkward.I never had to worry about that while using a menstrual cup! Once I got that bad boy figured out I never had to empty it out during work! Sure, it didn't fix my restroom problems-but I never had to worry about that peculiar incident happening again! When I told my ex-coworkers (all female) about what I was using they thought I was making it up. Had to pull up the Blossom Cup on Amazon to prove them wrong. Tried to explain to them just how AWESOME it is being able to be on your period and just...FORGET that you're on your period. I don't know if menstrual cups are able to get rid of cramps or what, but once I got the hang of my Blossom Cup my cramps just up and disappeared. It was great! I always forgot that I was on my period while my co-workers were all on theirs. And they were cranky...So cranky...So, to sum everything up: the Blossom Cup works great for me! (Again, this probably won't work for every woman out there). I have had this bad boy for over a year now and it's still holding up fine! It's not as pretty as the day I first bought it, though. My period blood has stained it pretty bad...then again this really doesn't bother me since this isn't something that you're going to be flashing around. No matter what brand of menstrual cup you decide to purchase you'll want to also grab some menstrual cup cleaner as well (easily available on Amazon). I've also gotten a Pixie Cup Cup to hold my Blossom Cup and sanitize it in with boiling water. There are only two things that I don't like about the Blossom Cup, and one of them I took care of myself. There's a little nub that sticks out of the bottom of the cup that's supposed to be used to pull the cup out when you're ready. This extra bit would actually rub against me and cause some discomfort. I took care of this with some scissors. The second thing is that the Blossom Cup pushes against my bladder and I feel like I have to pee quite often while its inserted. Now, I'm not marking down the score on this because this is exactly how tampons used to make me feel. I'm pretty sure ANY menstrual cup would trigger the same feeling for me. Some women don't have this problem: I do.So if you're thinking about switching to menstrual cups, I'd say go ahead and give them a chance. I chose the Blossom Cup because I was new to all of this and didn't want to drop a ton of money on something that I wasn't sure would work. I'm glad I did, because my Blossom Cup is my best friend when I'm on my period.
