My favorite moleskine line
I love the size and shape of this book. I have several other sizes in the Art line and it’s just as good as the others, but easier to carry around.

Nice size/format, paper ok
I really like the size and format, and the overall compactness for slipping into my bag - but the paper thickness is just ok. Doesn’t work very well for anything approaching wet media. Pencil, some pens, and drier water-based markers (Tombow) are ok. Watercolors, water-soluble pencils or other water-mixed media will cause a lot of buckling and some bleed through. Collage is hit or miss, depending on adhesive used.

Fun for On the Go!
I really like this sketchbook. It is light. The paper is silky smooth. Basically, great for drawing on the go.

Great little sketch book, I will be buying more!
I did not purchase this product for myself, but as a gift to students I mentor who are entering Architecture school. I have used Moleskine sketchbooks for years and this didn't disappoint. The Pros: I love the orientation of these sketch books, it is uncommon, unexpected, and the decreased binding edge makes it easier to fill the page with a sketch than a similarly sized book in a portrait orientation. The paper and cover are of the quality I have come to expect from Moleskine. The Cons:Its not really a con, but just of note that these are soft cover. The lack of rigidity is nice if you like to carry these in your pocket, but it doesn't feel quite as durable as the hard cover. They also have less pages than the more expensive notebooks but this is to be expected, and both of these "cons" are reflected in the price being a lot less than the hard cover versions.Great little sketch book, I will be buying more!

Know what you're getting
The media could not be loaded. I seen a lot of complaint of the cover and paper. I think the cover is advertised well enough in the title, it's soft cover yes... But I literally ripped it upon opening... I thought soft cover meant it would still be durable but it's literally like cardstock. Like a cheap flimsy business card is what the cover is comparable to.The paper is thin but I like it. Haven't extensively drawn on it, I will update once I do.I tried out my own marker and brush pen and neither leaked through. Even though someone was complaining of their pen and marker leaking. Results vary. I personally use Sakura products. Like micron pens and markers. The ink does smudge however. It eventually dries but eventually isn't good enough when you're like me working with pens.I plan on painting but the paper seems way too thin for that 😬 might still give it a try but I'm not gonna hope for anything.

Great for dry media, awesome shape and size.
This is my first moleskine sketchbook and I choose this size because I don’t quite fancy the classic size. I do wish there was a hardcover version, but other than that, for me this is perfect. It has a soft cover and the paper is really smooth (unlike regular sketch paper) and it works perfect with dry media, archival and water based ink. If you stick to those it will not bleed through the pages, so you can use both sizes.I’m afraid that if your looking to use anything like paint markers, alcohol based ink or even watercolor, make sure the sketchbook you’re looking to purchase shows that in the description. The front packaging in this one will actually show you what is meant for.

Meh
I like it, but the cover was not hard AT ALL. It actually bent a bit from minimal use. I thought the pages would be thicker as well. I’m curious if I was sent the wrong item, but overall not super excited about this purchase. It was put together alright, but the description doesn’t seem fitting at all.

Worst paper I have used for colored pencil
Update: I have added some new photos that demonstrate what the different colored pencils look like when laid down on it, and even tried blending some. Maybe it's just because I'm inexperienced with this paper, but I can't get the pencils to blend very well. I even added what sketch pencils look like and some wet media, and it's not any better. Graphite doesn't layer either, and wet media doesn't blend together, but instead sits on top of the paper, and the brush lines are more visible because of this.I can't believe this "art" Paper costs over $20, when better, higher quality paper costs only a fraction of this. Okay, I'm not even a good artist, I can't really call myself intermediate, but skill shouldn't matter when it comes to being able to judge the quality of a paper, and this paper does not hold up at all.I was following a professional guide that suggests to use moleskin paper, because they said it takes to colored pencil well and is really smooth with layering and blending shades. Well, regardless of how bad I am, this paper does not lay down color pencil well at all.First of all, the texture is too waxy, almost like it has a protective barrier over it preventing anything from being laid down on it. You can not blend or layer multiple colors, and the paper quality is so poor that I even ripped and tore off some of the paper when trying to layer! (the zoom in of the cat eye, is where the paper tore when I tried to do a highlight). It's almost like trying to draw on cooking wax paper or marker paper (both not suited to colored pencils). So either the guide is using some magical moleskin paper I've never heard of or this brand of moleskin paper is just bad. If its not suitable for art or colored pencils, you should list it in the advertising. One other peeve I have about this paper, is white does not show up very well over it. I tried to use white charcoal and white prismacolor and even a white gel pen, and I could not get the whiskers to show. This paper even looks like it has a slight tint to it (cream) so it's probably just the annoying film over the top preventing me from laying color down. Oh, and speaking of prismacolor, this paper makes even prismacolors, polychromos, and caran d'ache luminance (all of which I own and tried) look like cheap pencils, because you can't lay them down properly. In short, please avoid this paper if using for any kind of dry media (haven't used for watercolors or markers yet, but with the film I doubt even those would look good). Waste of money, can't believe this paper cost so much when I could've bought strathmore or canson for less than $10, and those work excellent with colored pencil. Save your money and buy something else.
