I like it
I've owned a Window Tinting Business over 13 years. I'm always looking for the the next best thing. Of all the wraps and paints I've used to darken tail lights I like Plasti Dip the best. Just take your time and read the instructions before use. Its best to remove the tail lights from the vehicle to ensure quality cleaning and even application too both. I fined it works best with many coats letting each coat dry before the next. I used about 1 can too darken an Audi S4 tail lights. The project took about 16 hours. I let each coat dry about 20 min before the next. When the can started getting low I was happy with the darkness so then I let the paint set over night. Perfection! The next day i was left with a nice flat smooth durable finish. This product is also removable leaving no damage making repairs or redo's very easy.

For this reason it is perfect for head and tail lights
This is for GRADUALLY dialing in the exact shade of gray you want. For this reason it is perfect for head and tail lights, or toning down colors that are too bright. I even used it on my specialty license plate which I love but was too colorful for my black car. Please note that you will likely not notice anything after just 2-3 coats, no matter how thick you lay it on. Just keep going with light coats, and make sure to let it dry 20-30 minutes between coats. You will probably need a dozen coats, but it works.

smoke, not black out
I used this spray on my tail lights and front turn signals on my miata. I didn't want to use night shades because its permanent. This product is definitely gray/smoke and not black. The downside is the finish is satin. I tried using the glossifier on top but it still didn't product a deep gloss. So it gives the car a weird look with gloss paint and satin/dull tail lights. What I love is I can peel it off like nothing ever happened. So that's really really cool about the product.

It certainly doesn't look like a tint so do not expect that
Used this on mine and a friends motorcycle wind screen and it turned out decently. It certainly doesn't look like a tint so do not expect that. It leaves a weird "fuzzy" layer as well. While the final product turned out ok, it was not what was expected.

Awesome
I never had any doubts about the quality of the plasti dip, it's always easy to work with. Packaging was adequate for a spray can. A tip though when using this, only apply light coats of this plasti dip. You can get away with spraying thicker with the solid colors, but because this is translucent, thick coats will trap tiny air bubbles which will make the tint look cloudy. Also make sure you wipe the spray nozzle between coats. This will keep the spray from 'spurting' out. For normal tail lights, 4 or 5 coats is plenty dark, typically what most people would consider a 30% tint. Obviously you can go as dark as you'd like. If you're wondering how many cans you need, I'd estimate that a single can could do about 16-17 coats, so about 8 coats each for medium sized tail lights. To do it right the first time, instead of doing both at the same time, do one tail light first, and concentrate on making consistent, light coats. That way, if you mess up and cloud up the light, you can just peel the one light off and respray instead of wasting twice the amount. It will produce a matte finish, and if you'd like it to be glossy, Plasti dip also makes a 'glossifier' which obviously does what you'd think it does.

5 coats of this stuff over my silver-painted wheels and the results were perfect! No one really thinks to use this on ...
Used it on my wheels because Anthracite was too dark for my taste. 5 coats of this stuff over my silver-painted wheels and the results were perfect! No one really thinks to use this on wheels but in reality it's perfect to achieve that true gunmetal look. The "Gunmetal" Plastidip official color is a joke and looks horrible in my opinion. Use Smoke instead!!---------------Update: tried to peel it off 1 year later and it just comes off in small pieces. I did 5 coats on application last year so don't tell me I don't have enough coats. Smoke apparently doesn't peel off like the opaque colors. Guess I'll be using Goo-Gone and a power washer. Also, it turned a brownish-color over time. 5 star review becomes 2 star.

Good stuff this plastidip, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
It's dips plasti all over your unplastied diappables. I use it primarily for craft purposes, but there are all kinds of uses, as a sealant, as a paint cover, as a non-slip grip surface, all kinds of ideas. Shake vigorously first. If you are pondering its utility versus it's cost, get one can and try the stuff out. I promise you'll find all kinds of useful ideas for it that make the expense very reasonable. If you're really hard up for ideas of what can be done with it, resort to youtube and prepare to be mind blown.

Peels off too easily - waste of money
Purchased to add some haze to a dog door flap. This was on a thick clear vinyl. It applied easily and smoothly, but has immediately started peeling and chipping away. Anywhere it's been touched by the second flap it's peeling off. This was a total waste of money and my search continues to find something to take the glare off the dog door flap.
