No online user manual
No instructions, but found out thru trial n error that the on/off switch doesn't do anything till you press the red button on top. Now the light comes on and the tip heats up. Heats up quickly as long as that red button is pressed. Kinda worthless to have an actual on/off switch.

BATTERIES MATTER!!!! Decent for a backup or to have when you have nothing better.
#1 important thing: You HAVE to use quality batteries.#2 important thing: This IS NOT a good tool for a beginner.If you're new to soldering and just starting out, get a decent quality, adjustable, table iron. Not a cheap-o, portable, sometimes works, iron like this one. Trust me, an adjustable table iron is best tool to learn on. Doesn't have to be expensive necessarily, but usually name brand is better.This soldering iron is decent for small jobs if you need something portable and you know how to solder well. But you HAVE to use the best quality batteries you can get. I used some cheap batteries I got for like $2 for pack of 16 (good for remotes and that's about it) and it wouldn't even tin a small cable. I was going to return this iron but decided to try a set of rechargeable Energizer batteries and was able to solder a set of cables decent enough. I think some of the Duracell Pro-cells would work well also but for the cost and how fast the batteries drain, get name brand rechargeable batteries.Not good for any kind of large or extended job. For sure a backup tool.(Previous professional electronics repair tech.)

heat very fast. I'm a little rough in the out of use storage so broke the first one after about 10 usages.

Absolute pile of crap! The thing started smoking and burned up! It got hot everywhere but where it was supposed to, I threw it in the garbage!!
