Great switch, but the lack of a built-in web ...
Great switch, but the lack of a built-in web interface makes it a little less convenient to configure. The configuration app needs to be installed on a Mac or PC – which then gives you a great UI, full control and configurability, and real-time stats. But would be nicer to have this built-in to the switch... Once you use the management UI, you can see why they did this – it is meant to seamlessly administer an entire network, not just one device. So if you install all Ubiquiti router, switch and access points, it allows you to configure them all from a single tool.

Impressed so far
I've been a fan of Ubiquiti products for a few years now, deployed in our environment is their surveillance systems and UniFi access points. I've been wanting to try out their switches since I found out about them and I finally got my chance. We have two of these that'll be sitting right next to each other in a rack. The first thing I noticed pulling them out of their boxes is that feel well made, the dog ears are permanently attached and are a thick metal. Ports are neatly labeled and clear, status lights are clearly identified for speed and PoE status. Plugging these in I discovered that they're incredibly quiet, over the normal office noise of ventilation systems, standing about 6 feet away I can hardly hear their fans running. I'm sure they'll ramp up once a load is applied to them but idle they're very quiet. I'm also impressed by their ease of configuration. I'm coming from a series of Netgear ProSafe switches which weren't too bad to configure but their GUI was dated and clumsy. The fact that these switches configure from the same controller as their access points is a plus in my book. It means less work on my part as the switches are already aware of all the VLANs we use for our wireless networks and pick them up with zero effort on my part. Using the two SFP+ ports I wanted to create a LAG group with dual 10Gb connections running between the two switches. Creating that LAG group on the ProSafe switch took several minutes just because of how slow they were and how convoluted the process was. With the UniFi I went into one port, set it to aggregate, then told it the other port I wanted it to aggregate with. It literally took less than 30 seconds. Next month the switches will be going in place and replacing their Netgear cousins. Then the true test begins, did I configure them right, how will their longevity hold up. Ubiquiti's 1-year warranty made me a tad worried as the Netgear's had a lifetime warranty, are about 6-years old and have been stable as a rock. I'm hoping they just do 1-year to keep costs down but the hardware is still built to last. Only time will tell.

Great switch, excellent features
I bought this switch to replace an older HP I had as my network core. I have not regretted it. The ability to provide POE to any point on my network is incredibly convenient. No more re-patching cables to get POE where I needed it or messing around with injectors. The UI is also super clean and easy to understand. If you're already using the Unifi ecosystem, this is a great addition.

A solid switch made amazing by the controller
A solid switch made amazing by the controller. Easy to configure, well behaved, and provides great diagnostic data. Couldn't ask for more. Actually, yes I could; Sticky addresses. My old HPs could remember a set # of MACs per port and only allow those to forward packets. It's really my only quibble with an otherwise amazing switch, but it still is a quibble; it doesn't support this functionality.

Great switch for a lot of different use cases!
Unifi products keep getting better and better. Their controller software is where it is at. The latest stable release at the time of this review is 5.6.22 and it offers so many features for what you are getting. It is amazing what these things can do. Now they are not fully fledged Cisco equipment, however that is not the goal of this product in my opinion. We have this switch powering 5 AP AC In Walls, 6 AP AC Pros, 15 Grandstream devices, and this thing still has so much more headroom for POE.

If your outside the warranty period, your basically dead to them.
Had a decent run with the switch, about 7 years, lite duty, then it died. Contacted support and they checked to see if it was under warranty. It was not. That's OK, I didn't really expect it to be. However, after that, they completely quit talking to me. If it's not under warranty, as far as they are concerned, you can go fly a kite. I tried to find out the usual stuff, if they had a repair depot that could fix it for a price, or if they would take a trade it, or even just send it in so they could dispose of it properly? I guess not. Both the help desk and tech support completely ignored all my questions. Off to the landfill with it, along with their reputation as far as I'm concerned.

This is the PoE Switch you want....
These Ubiquiti Switches are FANTASTIC!!!! They integrate well with the UniFi controller, and have ALL the bells and whistles. If you are trying to decide on a PoE switch, I can't recommend them enough, unless you are not running a UBNT SDN. Pros: Supports the 3 major types of PoE UniFi control 2x 10G SFP+ links 2x 1G SFP Links 48x 10/100/1000 PoE ports Cons: UniFi controller needed for configuration

What can I say great product I have deployed many of these in Enterprise and Business environments. Very easy to manage via unifi controller / cloud key Very good VLAN support. Will power all unifi access points without the need for PoE adapters, can also power IP phones and any PoE powered devices. I love ubiquiti devices they are such good value for money and provide enterprise grade features. I replaced my whole house which had 5 x Cisco Meraki AP’s and the continued cost of the licence VS the features for me is crazy. I can buy Unifi AP’s AC Pro for £120 ish and easily expand and manage my whole network along with my customer networks for a fraction of the cost of Cisco or equivalent equipment. Unifi really is one of the best and easily managed network and WiFi solutions.

I've completely upgraded my home network with Ubiquity and extremely pleased with the result. I was happily surprised to ear how silent is this switch compared to my old Netgear GS724TP. The Unifi ecosystem is fantastic. Every pieces of my network is integrated (Unified) into a single piece of software called Unifi Controller and seen as one entity. This switch is POE and everything is working flawlessly, cannot be more satisfied.
