Great sound in a little package
I have been playing guitar for about 10 yrs now and I always wanted a "throwback" acoustic guitar to drag with me on camping trips or vacations so I had been looking at different 3/4 size guitars for their portability factor. I have had some bad experiences in the past with "low end" priced guitars but between the reviews and the selection (not to mention the stellar price) I figured that if I got the guitar and only used it once it would be no big deal. Well, a few days later the Oscar Schmidt came and there were no warps, bends, scratches, rattles, or anything to complain about. I tuned it (strings were already on it) and was amazed by the tone! I'm not saying that this is going to compare to 3/4 size guitars that price in the thousands but it is a great product for the price! Sounds great, looks great, and was exactly what I wanted! Would be great for beginners looking to see if they like the instrument and great for pros looking for something portable. I love it!

A little different than what I expected... but good!
The description calls this a "Satin" finish guitar when in reality (at least the one I received) was SUPER glossy. I posted photos to show the difference. Also, the product photo shows a much lighter color than what I received. The front of the guitar is darker and a richer, redder tone than it shows here and the sides are even a deeper color. Honestly, I like it a lot better than the one in the product photo. The tuner knobs and the metal parts around them are gorgeous. (Again, I posted a photo with more detail.) I don't know if the way it's manufactured is a good or bad way of mounting and engineering the tuning keys but I love the way they look. We tuned the guitar and it's been holding so far.My son (13 y.o.) was playing my full size guitar and having a lot of trouble getting his fingers around the neck and his right arm/elbow in a comfortable position. This 3/4 size is perfect for him.The sound is nice, though I'm not a pro. I don't have a lot to compare it to. There are three plastic (nylon) strings which I'm sure could be changed for metal but right now they've done the job.

wrong item
I received the wrong guitar. The packaging slip the box everything says the correct one Oscar Schmidt three quarter size satin. I received a very light can I believe it could even be a half size not sure. This is for my daughter's birthday and I'm stuck with it as there is no time to return repurchase and ship.

good but not packaged well
The guitar arrived in a battered guitar-shaped cardboard box, in a thin plastic bag, with NO cushioning at all. There are chips on the edges of the guitar probably from the poor packaging and rough shipping conditions. The guitar looks exactly like the light color one in the photo, not like the red one that a reviewer uploaded. This was for my daugther's 9th birthday and she loves it, which is a relief because I felt it looked more boyish ( this really would be a great boy's acoustic guitar based on look alone) Personally I don't like the light wood color shade (it's red wood on the back which is beautiful) or the red ring pattern. My daughter is a girly girl, so I am delightfully surprised that she loves it so much, and I know she herself will put dings in it so we aren't sending it back. The price is right ( if it had cost more I would have sent it back for a perfect unchipped one) From the online research I've done, this acoustic guitar is made of good woods and Oscar Schmidt is a good acoustic guitar brand. The 3/4 size is perfect for my daughter and I could probably easily play it as well ( I'm 5'3). My daughter hasn't started lessons, and we know nothing about guitars, so I will update once we find a teacher and get that person's reaction to the guitar's quality and sound. I give this guitar 4 stars based on price, size, sound (it sounds nice to me), brand and research I've done, and my daughter's reaction when she opened it. As for the way it was packaged and condition it arrived in, I feel it should have been packaged with more care and I give it 2 stars for that catagory. If you're looking to give someone a pristine guitar with no blemishes this probably isn't the right one for you. I'll try to upload a photo.

THIS IS AN "OK" GUITAR
This guitar has some good looking wood. BUT,it needs some improving. The inside bracing should be brought to Oscar Schmidt OG1.I have been buying and picking for 47 years. This guitar had problems coming out of the box. It would not stay in tune. Told Amazon about it and they treated me right.Let me tell you guitar friends, if you want help from US Music Corp. YOU CAN FORGET IT. I talked to them for 3 days via email. What did I get out of all the "back and forth" talking. ZERO.Here's the bottom line "if you are going to charge the same price for a better built (on the inside) then make the guitars the same."Doc Russ

Would absolutely buy again
Amazing guitar for the price, sounds great. I’m a smaller adult and have always had trouble learning on a full size guitar. This one has been perfect.

Great guitar for my 9 year old daughter
Great guitar for my 9 year old daughter that is just beginning. The size is perfect, and the sound is nice. I’m sure we would upgrade in a year or so if she truly develops a passion for playing. But this was perfect. She loves it!
