LavaLockclamps compatible with Oklahoma Joe's Smoker Lid Latch Kit for Longhorn, Highland, 3 in 1 cook chamber lid 2 pack

These LavaLock clamps are a must-modification for any Oklahoma Joe Highlander/Longhorn Smoker. They are a tremendous accessory that goes far in leak-proofing your new smoker. I lined the clamp up with the top part of the handle bracket. Then using a silver tipped marker, I marked the four holes. After center punching the marks, I drilled a 1/8" hole followed up with a 3/16" drill bit. The included hardware is 10x32x1/2" bolts and they fit perfectly. The only thing to keep in mind, check the back side for the weld spot. You will need to shift the clamp a bit so it doesn't fall on the weld bumps.These LavaLock clamps really work and one of the must have mods to do. Used the latches on a Cuisinart COS-118 charcoal smoker and was pleased with the result. These are not the least expensive latches by far, but the other ones I could find had rubber tips which might melt. These have a neoprene tip, which should hold up better. Came with all the necessary hardware. If you can use a drill on metal, you should be able to install if you take your time. Once installed and adjusted, does a great job holding the smoker door closed (I also put a felt seal on the door to retain the smoke).

I bought these in anticipation of my Char Griller Competition Pro 8125 cook chamber door leaking like a 50 year old dry rotted tire. After installing the gasket around the edge... I didn't néed these. I kept them just in case, they are of great quality and seem pretty solid..... After all they are Lavalock.

Screws need to be a little longer in case the metal is thicker on some smokers

These clamps were easy to install. Screws were the correct size for the thickness of metal on my Oklahoma Joe's smoker. Have not used them yet but I am sure I might need to adjust the tightness Once I start smoking this summer.

The media could not be loaded. The bolts/nuts supplied are not long enough to go through both the cook chamber metal and the piece welded in to make the door seal. So the two bolts closest to the opening will have to be replaced with longer versions or like I used self tapping screws (pre drill the hole). Didn't come lock washers so we'll see if with all the heat/cool cycles if they stay tight. They do help with that Oklahoma Joe's longhorn lid problem of not sealing good because the door is catiwompus. I do have gasket material on my door also. You can see in the video that the door is still leaking. Albeit not as bad. The video is with the pit just fired up so there's plenty of dirty smoke making it easy to see the leaks. I'm all yes the clamps work and do help. You'll need a little ingenuity to get them fitted.

It took me a while to find the right size latches for my Oaklahoma Joe Highland smoker.Other ones look like these but the base where you attach beside the door of my smoker were too wide and people were only using 2 of 4 bolt holes...These ones fit well, are adjustable for pressure, work well and look good.
