Noise: A graphic novel based on a true story

Short, graphic novel that my tween recommends

I have a student who struggles with notice and behavior issues. She hasn’t put this book down since I brought it to my classroom. We need more like this!

Typically, I scour Amazon entries for details about each product since sellers get trickier and trickier with each passing year. My 11-year-old, however, put this on their wish list along with a bunch of other graphic novels. It didn't stand out. But at 28 pages, this is in no way a novel. There are also very few words on each page, even compared to other graphic novels meant for the same age group. So, at nearly $10, it was wildly overpriced. My child thought it was "kind of a nice story", but even they regretted putting it on their list as they read it in 2 minutes. Disappointed.

This book is roughly the size of an early reader; roughly 25 pages long and a somewhat disjointed timeline. However, its messages are clear and the art style is really cute! For those of us who are noise-avoidant, we resonate with the main character. For those of us who have experienced loss, we resonate with the secondary character. In all, I thought this was more about being kind to everyone, as you never know what battle someone is facing in private. My 12-year-old daughter really liked it, but was wishing it was actually the length of a novel!

I ordered this for my 13 year old while on deployment overseas. I knew nothing about it or how short it was, lol if I had I may not have purchased it, because I honestly thought it was a novel. But I would have been wrong.I personally have not read it or seen it in person, but my daughter just messaged me that she received it, read it, cried and LOVED it! As a shy 13 year old who always wears headphones she said this “book” really spoke to her and was so happy I got it for her. I got like 5 “I love yous” in our text exchange about the book. So I consider it $10 well spent and am looking forward to reading it myself when I get home

honestly i never expected the book to be so slim and short, when i first picked up the book i was so surprised, i thought it would be a BIG book, but otherwise it is a very good book to read

This is a short, but powerful elementary graphic book. Cathryn is a young girl who hates noise. On the first day of seventh grade, she meets fourth-grader Tyler on the bus. He is a very talkative young boy. He annoys her with all of his chatter and she yells at him. She feels bad for yelling at him and looks for him after school. You must read this book to see how kindness can make such a difference.
