Easy to use
Bought this glucose monitor for monitoring my newly diagnosed cat. Very easy to use , the lancets that come included in the kit are also good although I didn’t use them with the pen device. I would say the only downside to this machine is the cost of new testing strips ! They are very expensive but unfortunately you have no choice but to keep buying them.Overall it is a easy machine to use , a tiny amount of blood is all you need and to keep my cats glucose levels as stable as possible is a priority.

Expensive device
This product was recommended by the vet as it’s the one that they use! The lancet device is useless so I’ve given up with that and the test strips are really expensive at £50 plus for 50 (£1 each to throw in the bin) but this item is calibrated for dogs and cats therefore you can’t just buy any monitor so all in all a very expensive piece of kit but it’s a necessity.

Good product
Little expensive a lot cheaper on pet prescriptions or prescription website for Pet. The reader was very easy to use and the strips. The only problem I had was the pain it didn’t really pierce the skin very well that was very poor quality

Well worth the money!
Although it may seem costly at first it’s definitely worth it. Before purchasing I read on line that you could use a human blood sugar monitor and it would work just as well.A human one was cheaper but wish I hadn’t bothered as it just caused myself and my cat so much stress when trying to use it and it didn’t work. I would recommend purchasing the Alphatrek. It’s so easy to use and gives brilliant results every time.

Good Monitor
I purchased this monitor to supply readings to the Vet for my newly diagnosed cat. The monitor is a nice size and easy to use once set. The Lance device is a bit hit and miss, I hold my finger behind the ear when I use it on setting 4, this will take you some time to practise, you could always get another 28g lancing pen if you cannot get on with the one supplied.I place the test strip in the monitor but not enough to activate as you only have 2 minutes once fully inserted, as soon as I have the blood showing on the ear, I push the strip in whilst holding the ear and can take the reading 5 seconds later. Put a smear of vaseline on the ear and the tiny drop required will be easier to collect. The good feature is that you only need 3ul of blood, this makes it very easy to obtain.Downside is the strips are expensive. If you are testing all the time then it will cost you, if you use this monitor to obtain a BG curve and then use it to spot check it is well worth it.I am down to 20 strips now and have obtained 2 x BG curves with spot checks over 8 weeks.
