The Hose Bib Lock works exactly as advertised. It must be screwed onto the faucet tightly to avoid leakage if the faucet is turned on and the lock is in place. Even if it leaks, the water leakage is minimal and a thief could not benefit from the leakage. As noted in other reviews, the included lock is of very poor quality so I purchased a good weatherproof padlock to use in its place. If this lock is installed correctly, it cannot be removed without cutting off the padlock or serious damage to the assembly itself. It will protect the faucet from a casual water thief. Delivery, on the other hand, was a nightmare. Apparently it's become common practice to use what's called "SmartPost" where the shipping company (both FedEx and UPS) turn the package over to the Post Office for local delivery. In the past month, I've lost one package after the Post Office claimed it delivered the package (the business was closed at the time of posted delivery) and two others have been delayed by up to a week after attempted deliveries to my shop after the business has closed for the day. No notice was left at the business and only tracking disclosed the problem. For some reason, getting the package delivered when it is within 2 miles of it's destination is beyond the capabilities of the Postal Service. These were small packages. Larger ones are still delivered by the original shipper and I haven't experienced any problems with them. I gave the product 5 stars because it performs as advertised. If I were to include delivery, I would have downgraded it considerably.

The padlock is a 99 cent product from China. I do not understand why people complain about the padlock when you can buy the hose bib with the padlock for $11.98 and without the padlock for $14.98. The padlock is a joke, but the hose bib lock works perfectly. The hose bib lock I got prevents water from coming out if you turn the water on, it prevents someone from using your water, and a regular padlock will fit perfectly. I got tired of repairmen using my hose and not winding it back up, now this cannot happen. I do not have to worry about someone turning my water on. Sorry to say but if someone wants to steal water the neighbor on either side has unprotected hose bibs. For the money this is a wonderful product that works. I purchased one, it worked perfectly so I purchased the second one. I am 100% happy.

Quirky product, but functional, well made, and nice. We are away from home a lot and our hose bibs don't have an in-house turn-off valve so I worry that a kid is going to turn one as a prank and leave the water running for a long time till someone notices. This product screws on tight, and I am now able to "lock" the hose bib with a padlock. A padlock comes with the product, but I chose to use one with a little more durability (and no key to misplace). I have bought 2 of them, and plan to buy a third to use at our other house.

I recently experienced water theft from the outside faucet and I knew I needed to find a lock. Initially, this model was my least favorite because I wanted to be able to lock the faucet without removing the hose. I tried THREE other locking mechanisms and none of them fit correctly. Two of them didn't fit at all and the third one was plastic (the red one) and I was able to maneuver it off the faucet handle to the point where you could still turn the water on. I finally purchased this one as my last resort and it works very well. I used my own lock and sprayed a little silicone lubricant on the thread to prevent corrosion. If you tighten it just right (without over tightening), it will create a seal so even if the water is turned on, it will not seep out or leak. I wish I would've just purchased this one from day one. After having several failed attempts (one of which I cannot return), I am pleased to finally find one that works.

Since I pay for water at my house, this was Easy to install. neighbor left his garden hose and I believe was using my faucet as homes are somewhat close… now, I don’t have to even think about it.

I had ordered 3 others of this hose bib lock earlier without the padlocks and they work wonderfully and are easy to install. I needed 1 more and really didn't pay attention to this single one came with a padlock. I am very glad I was not going to rely on this padlock for security. It is cheap PLASTIC and would provide no protection except from the least enthused thief in the world. Uh, no thanks. I am glad that I had the 4th padlock from the Master locks set, which are all keyed the same, to use with this bib lock. Nice product, but keep the cheap lock.

Ordered 3, and chose this one primarily because they came with locks for a nominal price. However, 2 of the locks do not work. Ironically, the only lock that works is the one that came without keys (they are all the same but since they are packaged individually, one would expect...). The product itself works and is useful since I had someone leave my faucet on, but I will need to purchase locks for the other 2.

I spend some time searching for this kind of lock in Rona, Home Depot even Wal-Mart. I finally found what I was looking for here. We are really happy with our purchase: it was easy to install and the lock, even if it seem a little flimsy, does the work.
