Lily tested, cat-mom approved
My sweet and active girl is a 15 pound Siberian Forest Cat mix and, as such, can't fit on most scratching pads, despite her pathetic attempts to squeeze her booty on with one or both legs dangling off the side. This scratcher does the trick.Lily can plunk herself on top of it without tipping it over or scooting it across the floor, she happily scratches it, and she will bat at objects placed in the holes... and, BONUS: she doesn't scratch my furniture as a result. Moreover, it's NOT hideous! Why oh why are most pet items designed to stand out like a sore thumb? Seriously... I don't think cats even see color. I'm a mature working professional and I don't want a neon paw-print piece of furniture for my pet to interrupt my mid-century modern decor. (Yes, I realize this makes me sound like a snob). Alas, I digress. This is the second or third of these scratchers I've owned. Though a tad over-priced for the materials involved, the pro's outweigh the price for me. To make it last longer, after Lily has scratched her way through both sides, I'll use a jigsaw (or handsaw) and cut it in half the long way so that she can scratch on the "inner" side for a while, too.

Best scratcher ever!
Magic Cat and Lila Mouse adore this scratcher. I put it at the entrance into their downstairs territory, otherwise known as the new love seat -- which must be defended against possible stranger cats by marking with claw slashes and paw scent makings of course - now no more scratching on the new love seat. They have been crazy about this scratcher from the instant it came into the house, not one inappropriate scratch on the furniture. They scratch it on top and inside. They sleep on it. They lounge on it. They're even sharing it without problems.I had tried everything. Sisal, tall post, oversized cardboard scratchers. All have been well received in other parts of the house, but the love seat still was getting a beating. The entrance to their territory demanded something very serious. This is it, the perfect solution. No more scratching furniture, never again. This product is amazing, I hope they never stop making them.

Great for large cats! Mine range between 12 - 14 pounds.
My cats love these things! Unfortunately, now they are completely spoiled and won't use any of the cheap, flat scratchers any longer. One or the other is always either clawing away at it or reclining on it. The great thing is they last so long! Those little cheap, flat ones shredded and fell apart so fast, I was constantly replacing them. Using these is actually more cost effective despite the higher initial cost. And when these get worn, I cut them in half and they can use the inner surface, too. They don't like that configuration as much for lounging, but it still saves the furniture. A little judicious catnip application keeps them coming back -- and having staring contests over who wins the throne!

I'm disappointed
I'm disappointed in this cat scratcher. This was only $15.00 cheaper than the larger one I have. The larger one I got for Christmas for my two cats and it's lasting much longer than this one. I ordered this one on July 15 and it's almost ready to be replaced. The larger one is still going strong after 9 months. My cats love the scratchers. Both of my cats use both scratchers equally. Also, my cats prefer lounging in the larger cat scratcher Apparently the quality of the scratchers is vastly different. I plan to buy the larger scratcher when I replace the smaller one.If you have a choice, I'd recommend that you get the larger scratcher. It's only $15.00 more but it'll last a lot longer. btw...the larger cat scratcher I have is the PetFusion Cat Scratcher Lounge.

Cats love them and so do I...
I first became aware of the figure 8 scratcher while watching a program for cats. I have them in several sizes spread around the house. The cats are content to lounge all over these, sleep on them, and can really get their claws in them when they want to scratch. These are well made, last for years, and when you need to replace one it can be recycled.

Yes, buy this scratcher
Great for cat lounging and scratching. This is a very robust scratcher, and they can really stretch out. The cats also like to stick their heads or paws through the holes while playing with each other. Cute!

The kitties like this scratcher
The kitties like this scratcher. It's a fun and unique shape; it doesn't look like trailer park furniture. A good buy.

Too small
Purchased two PetFusions from Amazon, expected the Figure 8 to be the same size.. the quality appeared good and well build, just under sized for large cats
