Waring Pro SCM100 Professional Snow Cone Maker

Okay, I'll admit I'm old. I can remember getting a manual grinder sno cone maker when I was around 10. It was the most god awful thing I ever got, as it took half an hour or more to fill up half a cup. Those memories influenced me when my wife said we should get a snow cone maker for our grandson's birthyday party.I did my research and found most of them had some negative reviews, unless you were paying over $400. The Waring Pro had a reasonable price, and appeared to be well built. Most of the reviews were postive. So, it was the one we chose.It arrived packaged nicely, as you would expect from Amazon and its vendors. It was very easy to set up and connect the parts. It was, indeed, very sturdy and well put together. It did not have the 'cheap' feeling that you get with low end purchases of this nature.Of course the most important issue: Does it Make Sno Cones?Yes! Amazingly fast. It blew by my memories and showed me what is going on in athe 21st century of sno-cone makers! We had a bag of the 'big cube' ice. I was skeptical that it would be able to do anything with it, and was ready with a hammer to start breaking it into smaller pieces. However, the Waring Pro digested the ice as if it was slush. Two cubes and we had enough for one cone and it took about 10-15 seconds. That's right, seconds! We gave it the acid test at the birthday party with 30 or so 4 year olds lined up and hungry for their treat. It worked perfectly. No stalls, no ice cube stuck, and as quick as we put the cubes in they came out the other end as crushed ice for the cones. I was impressed with its overall manufacturing and the result. I would definitely recommend this product. The only caveat is that we've only had it since May, so we'll have to update the review after a year and see if it's still churning out the cones.

This works pretty good and the kids (including the teenagers) absolutely love to get it out and make the snow cones whenever their friends are over. Everyone loves them and it's fun for all. The ice doesn't crush as well as you can get from the snow cone vendors but it is adequate and the kids are quite happy with this. I like the products from this brand and expect it to last. It's a good looking machine and it looks nice when it is out.

It works well, simply, quickly, and without excessive noise. The shaved ice it produces can be as fine as snow or as course as the typical snow cone in the states. It just depends how hard you press on the ice you feed it. It hold enough shaved ice for several cones and is simple to clean. What more do you want?I bought mine cheap in the off season - I'd recommend not waiting for the heat of summer.

I own two Waring Pro blenders that are heavy duty and have lasted for years - I let my experience with \those products sway my purchase decision for this Waring Pro ice shaver - my mistake. This product is very light duty, made almost e timely of plastic. The ice cube hopper and press are of very light duty plastic. Even the shaving disk is plastic with attached metal blades. It does a decent job as long as you only apply light pressure to the ram - but is slower than the add leads you to believe.I know - "what do you expect for $60...." This is a very basic, disposable Waring product - don't let the "Pro" fool you. We will wear this out in a summer with the grandkids and then purchase a more durable product next time.

The summers in AZ are hott so I wanted a great snow cone machine to make tasty frozen treats to cool us Phoenicians down! I have very high standards and made sure to check out every machine on Amazon and I read all the reviews. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this machine! Making the snow is incredibly fast and easy! Cleanup takes a sec.! I wanted the machine to look good in my home with my decor! It is super cute...shiny (pearl) red with pink animated snow cones on the front...it is the talk of the room! All of my friends were impressed by how delicious the snow cones were! This is a worth every penny and I will recommend it to everyone!

I bought this for my elderly uncle who loved snow cones. It worked beautifully and he used it quite a bit. We invited friends over to have snow cones and they all loved it too. The ice was fine textured if you didn't put too much pressure on the ice cubes with the pusher. It was easy to clean and very sturdy. After my uncle passed away, I gave it to my niece and nephew who are still enjoying it.

I was extremely disappointed with the size of this product. It looks cheap and I couldn't help but feel like I got ripped off, especially when there is similar products out there for less. It takes forever to crush ice and it just didn't work out for my daughters party. For the price it's definitely not worth it. Spend the extra bucks and get the real carnival snow cone type machine. It works much better and looks better too. Had to send it back because it didn't live up to my expectations. Won't be buying this again!

I love this machine. It is fast, very easy clean up, and affordable. I ordered it for my grand's 2nd birthday party, which has not taken place at this point, but I tested it out when the grands came over. The ice is not shaven but it cuts up most of the ice. There is some chunks that appear (hence the 4 stars rather than 5) but you get what you pay for. I did a lot of research and to get shaven ice, it's pretty expensive. Most machines in the low hundreds don't shave. So, based on other reviews I decided cheaper is better if all you are going to get is finely crushed ice. I am very happy with the product. It is not bulky so it easy to store or leave out for easy use. Great product. I will be looking into using more Waring products.
