Quiet and 12.5 second open time on a standard 7' door.
Is good, California battery backup compliant, quiet, works with Chevy Homelink on board buttons. Delivered a day early and all the parts were there. Not too hard to put together, used it to replace a 30 year old Genie screw drive opener. Worked on a 90 degree day and it took about 7 hours with water breaks to install. Was able to reuse hangers for the existing motor mount with minimal modification, but need to put in bar end mount above door, sensors and such. I'm meticulous by nature so it probably could be done faster, with some help. This kit is nice as it's only a few bucks more than the similar units but comes with 2 remote, and a outside programmable keypad (with 'guest' number ability). Wired inside wall switch has 'lights only' button, and a lock-out button that lets door go down, but not back up via remotes (button on wall switch can still open door). My only complaint is the spool of wire that is supplied for sensors and interior wall switch is a bit meager - just enough wire for a 'perfect' (i.e. short) run to sensors and wall switch. Okay by me as I used existing wall switch wire, but be warned that if you use the long way around for sensors or wall switch you'll need another spool of wire. Oh, and don't over tighten chain - instructions indicate to tighten chain till the lazy side hangs 1/4" above bottom of rail, but fails to mention that the rail may distort before you get that much tension and fool you into over-tightening the chain. I think they assume you have the rail lying on a flat surface - I had my accross sawhorses and the lack of support allowed it to bow.

Great Value
Bought this to replace my 31 year old Overhead Door unit (got my money's worth out of that!). Straightforward installation which took 3 hours, good instructions, it helped that I was able to use previous wiring. Only delay was figuring control unit mounting, but had enough parts to pull it off. It is quieter, works fine, and I'm happy to have a battery backup. Even if it needs maintenance or even replacement after a few years its a great value! UPDATE 9/6. I liked the first one so much I bought a second to replace the other garage door opener, it was an even easier install the second time. I had trouble getting the program button to work on the first unit, contacted Genie customer support, and they gave me a work around (take the cover off and press the button on the circuit board). That worked, but they went above and beyond and without prompting shipped me a new unit cover to fix the button alignment. Great customer support!

Genie Chain Drive 750 3/4 HP Garage door opener meets expectations
I replaced an older Genie opener with the 750, primarily because I wanted battery backup. Installation was straightforward, and the instructions are color coded, and concise. As long as you follow them point by point, you won't have a problem. The rail is slightly shorter than the one it replaced, so I had to make a an adjustment (added structural blocking in the attic), but that didn't add much time. Total time to install, including taking down the old opener and rail was approximately 3 hours. The wall console and safety beams were identical to the old opener, so I left those and all the low voltage wiring in place. My one bit of advice, if you do a similar replacement, is to note (or take a picture) of how the original was wired w/ the low voltage bits, and use that same connection setup with the new motor head. In my case, it was NOT the same as spelled out in the instructions. The previous opener had been installed by the house builders, and they apparently had their own idea about how it should be wired. However, it worked flawlessly for five years, so I just went with that wiring scheme, and the new one works flawlessly as well. I'm quite amazed by how quiet this new chain drive operates. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a belt drive. The battery backup (main reason for the replacement) was extremely simple to install, and was still charging, so I haven't yet been able to test it, however, all the LEDs are indicating what they should, so I suspect it will work perfectly. The inclusion of an outside keypad saved me ~$35 that I was going to spend on one anyway, so take that into consideration in comparing prices, if you're thinking the same. The new 750 uses the same remotes as the older one, so I have two spares now. Programming it to sync with my vehicle's HomeLink, and an existing remote was a piece of cake. This opener *will* work with the optional Aladdin Connect, but, right now, I don't have a need to add it (I already have open/close sensors on the garage doors connected to my smart house setup). I can't speak to long term durability yet, however, if it's as issue free as its predecessor, I'll be happy. All in all, an excellent product, and I'd certainly recommend it...

So far this Genie is as good as other brands I've owned
Garage door openers are one of those decisions that are expensive and hard to change and also hard to know what reviews to believe so here is my two cents with lots of detail. Overall I give this Genie (model 7305) 4 of 5 stars. I have had Craftsman and Chamberlain before and I would not choose them over a Genie or a Genie over them. Overall what I like: I am pleasantly surprised at how quiet this chain drive is compared to my previous Chamberlain that was also chain drive. I like that this Genie comes with a surge suppressor and a battery backup unit. Neither have been put to a test yet though, and I will probably still add an additional APC unit since a power surge is what damaged parts of my previous opener and ended its service. Installation: The instructions are good IF you are a solid DIY-er and have a healthy tool set. If not hire someone and factor in that cost. There are good YouTube videos out there to supplement or replace the in-box instructions, but missteps can still happen. Mine was I initially put the bullet turnbuckle on the wrong side of the chain and did not catch it until after I had mounted the entire unit. Correcting that mistake without being able to lay everything out on a long flat surface and with gravity working against me and the heavy chain cost me an aggravating hour. With all this and in total I did mine alone and in a day and a half BUT I also had to repair some wood studs, re-did and reinforced all the wall and ceiling mounting and re-did all wires running to and from the control pad and the sensors. Speaking of that wire – the box may not provide enough depending on your garage. It’s inexpensive to buy more but I had extra from a previous install. Just know you may need to make a trip to the hardware store. Genie’s box should have had more than enough since I wired the first sensor to the second and then ran only one wire from the second back to the motor unit (yes, you can to that – just keep the sides of your wires consistent). This saves some wire and some time as opposed to running both sensor wires back to the motor. Speaking of the motor: The Genie 7035 is rated at ¾ horsepower which is a reason I chose it over ½ horsepower options. Is it really ¾ power and how does the industry accurately measure these? I don’t know. I can only say my garage door is a two-car insulated aluminum and this Genie opens and closes it without a struggle and quickly enough for me. Programming: It was a pain in the rear to get the “Home Link” buttons in our two 2004 Toyota Sienna mini-vans re-programmed. To be fair this might be the first garage door opener I have owned that has “rolling code” security - and our mini-vans are older. For them I followed the owner’s manual directions to clear out the old programming. Then I followed the directions to program the new code. It works provided you can find the third mandatory and hard to find step – go to the Genie motor unit and press and release the “program” button until the light starts blinking purple, then return to your Sienna and press the chosen home link button three times with just the right speed of repetition. It took me an hour and a half to get this right on the first Sienna and then about 5 minutes for the second. The GMC Acadia was quicker since I had learned the lesson and knew what to expect. Now – I also have a “Clicker Universal” programmable keypad for outside the garage. I have more than an hour and a half into trying to get that re-programmed and still don’t have it working. So overall I am satisfied this Genie was a good choice and value provided it gives me long service.

Quiet and dependable
My only complaint is that it’s so quiet I don’t know if the door went up or not. It did. It was replacement unit with existing wiring that my installer took less than an hour to install.

Go with Chamberlain
I ordered this Genie model after our 20 yr Genie Screw Drive motor finally quit and was obsolete to replace. This chain drive unit was very easy to install but the two remote controls did not match the ones pictured in the Amazon Ad. They were also missing two visor clips which Genie did eventually send. About three days after installing the chain broke at the turnbuckle adjuster. I contacted Genie Service and was told they have to verify the purchase for a warranty claim and provide pictures of the breakage. I provided everything they requested and was told and they confirmed the parts are under warranty but again I would have to provide a receipt of the purchase. I emailed the Amazon Invoice and followed up with a call and I was told the purchase verification is confirmed. It’s now 3 weeks later and I haven received any updates or the warranty parts. I’ve attached a few pictures which documents the chain failure and the broken adjusting screw that attaches one end of the chain to the turnbuckle adjuster. I would avoid ordering a Genie Garage Door Opener until their service/warranty dept gets their act together and stop the customer run-around.

Works better than I expected, great value
When I opened this unit up I almost returned it when I saw how small the DC motor was. It is about half the size of the old induction motor in the unit which I replaced because the optical sensors were not working and it had no remotes anymore. This kit is complete, has good paper directions and web videos available, good job! I cheated and taped the optical sensors together just so I could get it going, as usual it took longer than it should have because I am not the sharpest pencil in the box. The light weight of the head unit is really appreciated when you are on a ladder mounting the unit. Finished assembly and, WOW, what difference, plenty of power and soooo smooth. It even has a soft close function. Even with the optical sensors taped together the pressure sensor is just perfect, the lightest touch and it reverses yet never false triggers. Great electronics. The remotes are amazing, the inside switch has many functions, the best is where you can disable the remotes with small slide switch. You get 2 remotes and a outside remote wall mount (no wires!) with a keypad that you set to your code. I also tried out the battery backup, works great and is a nice feature to have if your power goes out. Good value and well thought out unit. The smoothness and power still amaze me in this small package, this old school guy got schooled!

Easy to install, very quiet. So far, so good.
I installed this myself over the course of two days, maybe 5 hours in total. A few of those hours were running to the hardware store because my previous opener was installed by a moron. I had to add a 1x6 to the rail mount location. And I had to get a new L channel to mount the drive to the ceiling. Anyways, the install is super straightforward. The instructions are very well written. There are also a couple of good YouTube videos. Unfortunately, I had to replace everything including the rail because this is a different brand than I had before. But it was easy enough. After mounting it, I programmed the unit. Genie has a great programming setup to set the stopping points. I was also able to connect my WiFi opener and it worked flawlessly. The unit is exceptionally quiet. I don’t understand why they even sell the belt drive unit when this is basically whisper quiet. It’s the same speed as my other garage opener. I think the quietness maybe makes it seem slow for some reason. My ONLY gripe is the range isn’t very good for the remotes. I’m hoping a better antenna will fix that. It would be pretty annoying if it didn’t. My previous unit could do the garage from the street. This thing doesn’t work past 10 feet. It’s insane. Update: I’ve had this a month or so now. Still in awe of how quiet it is. I have a second garage door with an “overhead door” brand opener. Hearing that is like nails on a chalkboard. The range is better than I initially thought. It works from the road. There seems to be a dead spot that it won’t work, but a few feet over any it triggers. Range is not an issue for me anymore.
