Exact replacement
As written in other reviews here, better installation instructions or a link to a YouTube video would be helpful. You must have a metal rod of some sort to push out the bottom half of the old switch. I used a old blunt screw driver and tapped the handle end gently with a hammer. Once the lower section was pushed out it was an easy install. This 20 year old flashlight is working perfectly again. The switch appears to be OEM and is an exact replacement.

Great to find a replacement
Easy to install. I have had my streamlight SL-20 for over 25 years. I used it everyday at work. The switch finally gave out and I missed my old faithful. Good to find a replacement, nice to have the light working again. I use it around the property now that I have retired. I'm sure it will last for many more years.

Replacement Switch for an older Streamlight SL-20X
Replaced the switch on my 30 year old SL-20X. Easy install, works as advertised. If you have an older SL-20X, this is a quick fix for a bad switch. I would recommend this item.

Authentic Replacement
A prefect replacement for my old, reliable SL-20X that I've carried since patrol days back in the late 80s. A few have asked about instructions. There are instructions included, and once you understand the process it's very easy. That said, some have mentioned the instructions don't seem to be clear, so I'll try to offer some clarity. Remove the bottom cap and take out the battery. Unscrew the ring on the bulb end of the light and remove the ring and the lens (there will be an o-ring in there as well. Remove the lamp/bulb and remove the two wires attaching the bulb to the flashlight. Just lightly twist them and they will slide off the posts on the bulb. One of the wires goes to an eyelet that is held in place by a screw. Remove that screw with a Phillips head screwdriver. Don't lose the lock washer underneath the screw. You do not remove the head of the flashlight. Many people seem to think that is required. Think of the switch as a piece of plastic pipe that has been cut into two half pipes. If your flashlight is lying on the table with the switch side up, we'll call that the top half. If you were to hold the flashlight up to the light, and look through the bottom end, out the top end, you'll see a seam dividing the top and bottom half of the switch. You will need a long dowel rod less than 1/2" in diameter. Something about the size of a pencil would work well. I actually used a long heavy screwdriver, but had to be careful. Stand the flashlight bottom side up, slide the down rod down the inside of the flashlight on the bottoms side (the side opposite the switch). Lightly start tapping the rod so that you're driving the bottom half of the switch out the bulb end. Once that's out, just remove the pushbutton side of the switch easily from the flashlight. It goes back together the same, just in reverse. Once the pushbutton part of the switch has been inserted, you will slide the bottom side in from the bulb end. No tools required. Just press it into place with your thumbs until it seats flush. Put the set screw and lock washer in, and finish reassembling the flashlight. I broke it down into small steps, but this is not difficult.

Didn't last very long...
Very disappointed when it failed again after almost seven years of light use. Not only won't function as a switch any more, it apparently won't let the unit charge either. UPDATE: Ordered another of these to replace the last replacement switch. The new ones now have a "locking tab" on the top half so you have to pound on the back of the lower half until one or both tabs sheer off in order to drive it out to remove the bad switch. New switch is working fine, at present. We'll see how long this one lasts. The rest of the light is in great shape, and over 20 years old, although I have replaced the batteries a couple times.
