Great value and high quality - Spool broke in transit
I purchased 500 feet. The cost was the best I have seen for that amount. The wire / insulation was of excellent quality and was easy to separate between the wires to make connections and easy to remove insulation for transformer connection / attachment. Yes, as others have mentioned, the plastic spool gets broken in transit. Not sure the fault - could be the plastic / packaging, could be handling, could be a combination of both. This did create a pain in removing the wire from the spool in order to cut and lay-out the design. If this happens to you - find the ends and uncurl the wire from the spool. Then pull the wire away taking care not to allow more tangling or the wire to get tight around itself which will take time to straighten. For 10 minutes of hassle, I saved a lot of money on wire. Once I had the line straight and separated from the spool - the normal lay-out / design process was no issue. I will purchase from these folks again in a heartbeat. Marc - SC

Thicker than typical 16/2
The wire seems to be of very good quality and should hold up well to direct bury installations. The only complaint I would have is that I bought 16 gauge Modtek Piercing Connectors to use with it but they are too small to safely connect to the wiring. I would recommend getting connectors for 12/14 gauge outdoor wire. This wire is much thicker than what was expected. My package was poorly shipped. There was no damage to the box but the reel was broken when opened. Could have been Amazon's poor packaging(too loosely packed) or was damaged prior to shipping. The broken portions of the reel were not loose in the box so it is hard to know where the problem occurred. This made it difficult to unroll but not worth returning. Once unrolled and laid out properly, it was easy to separate and identify which wire was which for easy splicing, minus the size as previously mentioned.

Don't believe negative reviews about this wire....
I did a large landscaping project using 3 rolls of this wire and know the quality is the same as wire from the big box stores. A few disgruntled people blamed the wire for their lights not working, but I believe their problem was actually caused by the low voltage waterproof connectors they were using. Some waterproof landscape wire connectors are perfect for wire sizes 12/2 - 16/2, but they are too large for many of the led landscaping light wires sold on Amazon that have 18/2 or higher wire. I've encountered this problem many times. My solution is as follows: 1. First thing to do is check the low voltage light fixture before connecting it to this wire using a 9-volt battery. Touch each bare wire coming from the light to a 9v battery....either wire to the + and the other wire to the - side of the battery. The charge in a 9 volt battery is so low that you will not get shocked. The light should come on. If it doesn't, the light could be defective or your 9v battery is dead. 2. Connect this low voltage wire to a low voltage transformer. 3. Connect the light to this wire using two connectors per light. (Each brand is different, so I can't tell you exactly how yours works. If in doubt, you can probably find a youtube video showing how yours works.) 4. Plug-in the low voltage transformer/low voltage wire into a 110 outlet. If the light doesn't come on, then the "connector" didn't make a good connection. Redo the connector and plug the transformer in an outlet again. If the light still doesn't come on, you probably have the same problem I have encountered many times. Your connector is probably connecting with this wire just fine, but the wires from the light are too small for your connector to make a connection. The solution I used was to strip off approximately 1/3" of the wire coating from the light wire and twist it back onto itself, thereby having a bare wire on the outside and the inside of the protective coating. Make sure the exposed bare wire is completely enclosed inside your waterproof connector when you reconnect it. This worked for me every time I had this problem using the following waterproof connector I bought on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035R7TKO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 FYI...I am not an electrician, just an ordinary person who has done several low voltage landscaping projects that turned out beautiful. I learned a few things along the way that I have passed on to you. Low voltage projects are usually considered DIY because the voltage is so low it's not considered dangerous. But the wiring still has to be done correctly and the connections have to be tight and waterproof or the lights won't work. There are many video on youtube that can visually explain low voltage wiring better than I can. I recommend everyone watch them and educate yourself before starting your project.
