Super Light Acer Aspire UltraBook Laptop
I ordered this Acer Aspire S3 13.3" Ultrabook Laptop for my business. I needed something very light as I have to hold constantly at a client's home or business. Didn't need anything fancy or super high-end as I use this mostly for my proprietary software, email, social networking, etc. The power of the Intel Core i3 processor is perfect, along with 4GB RAM. Boots fast because of the mSSD drive, 320GB hard drive is more than enough storage. Will be upgrading the hard drive to an 256gb SSD soon. Screen bright & clear and audio is okay, don't really need as I don't use this for entertainment. I do however use for video and PowerPoint presentations to customers, perfect for my applications.PROS: Super lightweight; Bright screen; fast enough to run all MSOffice applications, video, photos, etc. Bluetooth is a great bonus. At this low price point, you can't go wrong. Don't buy more laptop than you need, most are overkill- especially since most people only use them for the internet, social networking, watching videos & playing music, and Office applications.CONS: Batter life absolutely stinks, maybe 3-3.5 hours max., even with brightness on low. Got about 4hrs when not using WiFi which I don't need anyway when with customers.Overall a perfect laptop for my business. Price is low and quality is great. Get an protective shell cover for this from seller mCover (iPearl mCover HARD Shell CASE for 13.3" Acer Aspire S3-951 / S3-391 series Ultrabook laptop), protects your investment, easy to clean, and you won't have to worry about scratching & smudging your laptop.

THIS IS RATING IS FOR ACER'S CUSTOMER SERVICES and EXPIRED WARRANTY
Something good about this laptop after my 1st time use:(1)I am buying this as an emergency use for my parents. I had one day shipping and it delivered on time. Five Starts(2) As it says 3lbs, pretty light and a very handy size. Five Starts(3)fast chargingSomething I am not happy with:SLOWWWWWWW!! To be clear, I know what is " fast " mean since I have four devices at my home: 2 laptops (one Alianware and one Mac Air)and 2 desktops (two Dells with self upgraded hardware )But this laptop is for my parents... i guess it is fine.OKAY,YOU SHOULD READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY ANY ANY ANY ACER'S PRODUCTS:WHY did I give its customer services one star? What happened: I bought this ultra book and found out it doesn't have a build-in CD reader/writer. I have an old one so I plugged it in and realized somehow the laptop did not recognize it. At the time I wasn't sure about the reasons (was the reader already broken or was the system's set up problem? ) so I did some google researching and called the customer services.1) it's NOT FREE to ask any question / help to any technicians . I remember I was told to pay about $20 (or more) to ask for JUST ONE help. what is interesting, is you will be hardly to find the price on its website.2) I was surprisingly known (MAYBE I AM THE ONLY ONE) that this NEW laptop I bought came with an EXPIRED warranty (really? even today is my first day to own it). "The serial Number entered is not eligible for extended warranty coverage. Please confirm serial number entered or contact Customer Support" (Hello! )3)RUDE INDIAN REPRESENTATIVE ..Sorry, I am not an Indian hater or what.. just because I was warned by that Indian guy that I shall not try to fix anything by myself because I could possibly make the things more complicate. (question: why and how can I make the problem more complicate if I just going to buy a new portable CD reader? where on the earth he got this conclusion and judged on me? ) I told him I will pay for a help later if I find out it's not the problem with my old CD reader. He just kept saying I am not knowing what I am doing. SO I was angry because he did not understand me and tried to make me think I am stupid. Finally, I went to the bestbuy which is one block away from my home and got a new portable cd reader, cost me 35 dollars. and it works fine. I am glad I didn't pay that 20 dollars first which would make me to be a real Idiot! One last thing to add, when I received the package, it has a tag with 316.00 and on it says Wal Mart....thank you for reading my comment.I might have some attitude showed but I have tried to be fair ( I was still angry when I typed about all this).

Simply superb!!!
Simply superb for its price!!! Ultrathin, just like a macbook air, very comfortable in carrying around, astonishing build quality and looks, responsive keyboard and touchpad, runs uneventfully common programs under windows 8.1. Cons? relatively slow i3 processor, mediocre screen display angle. All in all, at this moment you cannot get anything even as close to that ultrathin notebook with 400$. Highly recommended as long as you know what you are buying and what you need!

Windows 8 Ruins Decent Computer
I really wanted this laptop to work out. It looks great, it's lightweight and thin. Unfortunately, that's where most of the pros end.I spent a couple of days familiarizing myself with Windows 8 and setting up the PC. I was disappointed at almost every turn. The computer could not sync with most Google apps (mail, contacts, calendar). While you could set up gmail, it was clunky and lost most of its functionality, including your contact list. This was a common theme - I found that it just wasn't intuitively compatible with most of what I needed like an Apple product is.I was disappointed with aspects specific to the computer as well. The battery life (or lack thereof) really shocked me. It was about two hours if you were lucky. The most misleading aspect of the computer is the advertised boot time. It proudly touts a two second boot time which is blatantly untrue. I updated the computer to only load the essential programs upon starting (another windows/acer fail in allowing so many non-essential programs to be preinstalled and default to automatically load), and timed the reboot process. It took over 25 seconds, which is comparable to a standard HDD. The 20 gb SSD did next to nothing for the performance of the machine. After a couple of days spent trying to convince myself that I could configure Windows 8 and the Acer to properly fit my needs, I gave up and ordered another Mac. This Acer may work for some people, but I am not one of them.
