Heartwarming! Such a great movie!
My Dad died last week. I have been so forlorn. I thought I'd watch this movie, not knowing what to expect. It's just the kind of movie that I needed. It is so sweet. Graham is so gorgeous! Just watching him on the screen makes me happy! Very cute movie.

A TIMELESS LOVE STORY
This sweet little love story transcends the boundaries of age in a beautiful way. From the first awakening of love in late teens to rediscovered love in middle age, that's what we have here. Graham Rogers (in his introductory role; Quantico) is the teenager who falls in love for the first time while having to care for his mother (Virginia Madsen) who just received divorce papers from her husband who found a younger "replacement". She is now in a severe depression and can barely get out of her bed. Thanks to a neighbor (Sam Trammel - True Blood) who comes by to lend a helping hand in some yard work, he gradually catches the eye of Madsen and, ultimately, she catches his. Though the story is predictable, the way it reaches its conclusion is very well done. It's mature, moving, and not mushy. The acting and story line are captivating and realistic. Plaudits go to Rogers who goes on to fulfill the promise of being an excellent actor in his follow up roles. NB: There are a couple of scenes that might be for a mature audience only.

Well Done
There are three specific gifts I love receiving...something handmade, a good book and a good movie. While watching "Crazy Kind of Love" I knew that I had received one of my favorites. I couldn't decide whether it was the movie or the reminder of something handmade that struck that cord. Like smoothing my fingers over a handmade throw and finding a thread that I wanted to tuck in, I followed the thread of the story as it wove through the characters tying each one to another with a carefully crafted tension. The mother, played by Virginia Madsen as the rejected wife, gave me that cellular connection of pain that wont pass with anything other than unending time. The youngest son barely holding life together as he deals with the loss of "family" as he had known and loved it, meets the girlfriend who slides into place with quick witted humor as she tries to smooth out the gash in the fabric of their lives. I loved the slick twist of good heartedness that had me think "she did what?" as the older brother lets himself get to know her better. That well crafted tension continued, picking up the pace, until the finishing snap in the thread that gave me an ending that put a smile on my face and gave me an insightful peak at how the world turns.

Bette flips the family dynamics on it's head
Bette changes everything in this family. Only nonbelievable part ---- depressed woman in bed, not eating, not showering, not getting dressed ..... but she's wearing great makeup.

starts well but goes south quickly
Starts off promising, with some vivacious young actors, and a budding relationship. You wonder how the mom will deal with the end of her marriage, which is somewhat interesting. Then things go south. This girl is just over the top relentlessly cheerful. Then she moves in uninvited? Then weirdest of all, she practically rapes her boyfriend’s brother (!?) (but in a cheerful way ?) then she is surprised that her boyfriend is upset by this? After a while, people’s actions make less and less sense, just divorced from any semblance of normal behavior, so your interest wanes. So yes good for the first 1/3, but then goes downhill.

So very well done.
Everything; story, dialog, acting and technicals were brought right up to the needed level and then avoided over doing. The drama wasn't of an hysterical nature and the comedy very low keyed. Chuckles and amusements, as outright laughter wouldn't fit.Well paced, enjoyable watch.

Three Stars
I love Amanda Crew but this one was just ok
