Did not come in GE package but it is marked with GE part number and HI-LO temperature setting
Bought this thermostat for fixing a freeze/iced freezer condition leaving the refrigeration section with no cold due to blocked cold air recirculation. Installation is not difficult. After removing the large cover plate in the freezer and under the light bulb, the thermostat is located at the top of the evaporator coil. After cutting the existing wires, my recommendation is to soldering in the new thermostat and using heat shrink for electrical isolation and sealing. After the replacement, the refrigerator is operating as brand new. My refrigerator is brand and model is GE GSH25JSTA.

It's working
It's working, but I don't know how. We had bad ice build up in the freezer compartment. Installation required emptying the freezer. taking the shelves out, and taking some panels out. I installed it with wire nuts capped with RTV (later learned I could have used Vasiline). Now the fridge ices up, but then the ice disappears. I ssume the defrost cycle is working now with the new thermostat. I'm happy. I cancelled my refridgerator maintenance contract. Youtube and I know a whole lot more than their technicians.

So far so good.
Freezer was working but a lil warm. Fridge would not go below 50. Changed out evap fan which helped a little but fridge still wouldn't cool. Installed this thermo which was fairly simple. It took about 2 days but eventually freezer got much cooler and fridge is now at 36. Its only been a week but so far so good. I hope it doesn't fail.

Easy Fix for Failed Defrost!
A very inexpensive repair that was very easy to complete! Fifteen minutes worth of work and the defroster is working again. Fortunately we were able to test the heating element (much more expensive) for continuity with a multimeter and were able to rule it out as the failed part. After pulling out the old thermostat and testing it for continuity, it had indeed failed.

My GE Hotpoint model no: HSS25IFMD WW fridge has ...
My GE Hotpoint model no: HSS25IFMD WW fridge has gone out several times. The first time, it was the main board. It recently had a defrost issue again. I assumed the problem was the same as before, so I made the mistake of replacing the main control board again prior to first replacing several smaller, inexpensive parts. The board and the heating element were replaced but did not fix the problem. Then I replaced the defrost thermostat and the freezer temperature sensor. I'm not exactly sure which one of these two fixed my defrost problem, but since they were both inexpensive, I replaced both. My fridge works perfectly again.A couple things to keep in mind, you will need some wire strippers, wire nuts, and electrical tape to do these repairs correctly. Replacing this part is not time consuming or labor intensive at all. For installation instructions, search Youtube for installation videos.***IMPORTANT***Make sure you defrost the freezer coils before you expect this repair to take effect. My defrost problem was as a result of my freezer not going into defrost mode as it should. After installing these new components, I expected the defrost cycle to start immediately, which would have been evident by seeing the defrost heater come on. This did not happen which made me sick, because I thought my repair was a failure. It was not until I defrosted the freezer coils and started the freezer again that I saw the freezer go into defrost mode correctly.

Defective out of the package
Bad out of the box - - had continuity when opened fresh outta the box at 70 ++ degrees!!- defective out if the package !! - should only have continuity below temp. Value reading obtained from the device !!! Reason why defrost heater not going in to its cycle.
