Good for Beginners, More Than Just Recipes
I have always really like the For Dummies series. They are thorough and organized in a way that makes them easy to understand. The Juicing & Smoothies for Dummies is no different.The book starts off with an Introduction then goes right into part 1 of the book. Part 1 of the book consists of chapters 1 - 4 and covers all you need to know for getting started including health benefits, choosing a juicer, and fruit and veggie selection.Part 2 covers chapters 5 - 10 which is still an information section on how juicing can make you look and feel better.Part 3 covers chapters 11 - 14 and by chapter 12, you’ll be getting into making some starter juices with recipes included.In Part IV, we finally get to the smoothies part. This section covers chapters 15 - 19. Smoothies are my favorite over juicing and I really like chapter 19 which is “Focusing on After Dinner: Frozen Smoothies”. This is the treat chapter.Last but not least if Part V which is “The Part of Tens” and cover the Ten Antioxidant-Rich Fruits and Vegetables along with Ten Immune-Building Ingredients.There is also an appendix and index included.This is a 2nd, update edition of Juicing and Smoothies for Dummies. You can still get the original edition here on Amazon for a few dollars cheaper but the updated edition has more recipes and more nutritional information.This is definitely a good book for beginners since it includes so much more than just recipes. You do get over 120 recipes but you also get lots of information on juicing, vitamin, and nutrition.

Improve Your Juicing IQ
I’ve always liked the Dummies book series and have found most every one of them useful as a reference guide and instructional manual. Juicing and Smoothies for Dummies, once again, continues my confidence in the Dummies series. It’s a complete guide to turning your favorite fruits, vegetables, etc., into delicious, drinkable concoctions.Juicing and Smoothies for Dummies is great as a recipe book and I would bet that many people who get this book go directly to the recipe section and start juicing away. I like the different cross references for the recipes and the numbered, step by step instructions are perfect for those who want to get things right the first time. Each recipe ends with a nutritional breakdown and some of the recipes even have added tips, helping you get the most from your efforts.So, Juicing and Smoothies for Dummies has lots of great recipes but like other Dummies books, this one is much more than a one- dimensional source. The book talks about the health benefits of juicing; offers advice for finding the best juicer or blender; describes the proper technique for juicing; and even offers advice for recycling juicing leftovers. I thought I was already well versed on smoothies and health science, but I still found new things to learn in Juicing and Smoothies for Dummies. There is very useful advice throughout this book and most everyone who reads will discover something new.Fresh juices made from fruits and vegetables represent a great way to improve health and get the balanced nutrition we all need for good health. Juicing and Smoothies for Dummies is an excellent guide for this purpose and I like to keep it nearby for quick reference. It encourages fresh juicing and blending of fruits and veggies for improved health and with its endless tips and advice, it’s sure to improve your juicing expertise.

Another excellent "Dummies" title.
I can heartily add my positive recommendation to those of others. The "Dummies" series of books, while having perhaps a slightly 'offensive' title (hey! I'm no dummy!), are really great introductions to many topics. Like others, "Juicing and Smoothing" succeeds in containing sound, step by step advice, starting from the basics, and building upward. What I like most about these books, this one included, is that the writers are always conversational and engaging. It's more as if you are having a conversation with an expert, than reading dry prose. If you're interested in exploring how juicing and making smoothies can enhance your taste and your tastebuds, this book will be very beneficial!
