The Meinl Traditional Aluminum Caixa is a classic Samba instrument. The Caixa is a snare-type drum played with sticks. It has synthetic heads for bright, penetrating tones, and cutting rim shots. The Caixa’s role is to be played as a fast and high counterpoint line to the deeper Surdos and middle range Repenique. The Meinl Traditional Aluminum Caixa has an extra deep shell for a full sound. The snare is made from a pair of guitar strings secured with a special tension device. The rims are secured with six countersunk tuning lugs. All edges are smoothly finished for player comfort. All hardware is chrome plated for enduring great looks. A tuning key is included. Meinl Caixas come equipped with heads that have our logo printed on the underside. This patented technique assures the logo ink will not rub off onto sticks and make smear marks on the head. Caixas are typically worn waist high.
