Excellent tool set!
This is an excellent wrench set. You get one toothed barrel nut wrench and one receiver/smooth nut wrench. Savage stock barrel nuts are notorious for being difficult to reverse, but this pair tackled the job perfectly. I highly recommend placing a washer under the bolt and oiling the threads of the action wrench prior to use, this will prevent bolt breakage and allow for smooth tightening. The proper way to use this pair is to first strip the action, spray some thread breaker lube inside and out of the receiver at the barrel and around the barrel nut, and let it soak. Place the toothed wrench on the nut, set the barrel in a vise with the proper clamps, and then slide on the receiver wrench with the bronze insert. Rest the handle of the receiver wrench against the bench, tighten the clamping bolt, and using a quality 1/2" breaker bar/torque wrench, insert it into the socket closest to the nut on the toothed wrench and start pulling smoothly. The key word is PULL, don't jerk the wrench, you'll just deform the barrel nut and wrench. If additional leverage is needed, use a pipe. Installation is the reverse with the proper go-gauge. By using the two wrenches in tandem, the barrel and receiver are fully secured and supported, and will alow you to salvage the barrel nut and recoil lug. For smooth nuts, you'll need to get a bit more creative, possibly get a 2nd set for the additonal receiver wrench, which would still be cheaper than buying a separate receiver wrench by itself. With proper use and setup, there isn't the slightest of bending or deformation of these wrenches Side note, if you cannot remove & reinstall a trigger assembly, or have the other proper tools/gauges to properly adjust headspace, you probably shouldn't be removing/installing barrels. However, if you have some decent armory/smithing experience, this set will serve you well.

Inexpensive and works to remove a barrel on my Savage Axis.
I have a Savage Axis II in .308. I needed to remove the barrel to send it to a gunsmith for threading. Using this kit, I was able to remove the barrel. The rounded rectangle tool removes the barrel nut. The other tool holds onto the action/receiver. You can use a 1/2 breaker bar on both tools. Using go/no go gauges, you can reinstall the barrel with correct headspacing.

Savage model 11 will not work
Nice tools but doesn’t work with a savage model 11

It work better than expected.
I would suggest taking the screw out first and putting antiseze on the threads.

Also works for my Remington 783's
These are heavy-duty barrel nut removal wrenches for various Savage rifles and also my Remington 783 rifle. In fact the square notch wrench fits the barrel nut perfectly with no slop. These quality wrenches from Wheeler are made in China but well worth the small investment for something that really works. The wrench set also comes with detailed directions . . . you'll also need GO & NO GO headspace gauges plus a barrel vise.
