When in use for an outdoor firepit, water will slowly fill up the tubes. Just drill holes from top through the bottom on the star ends.If yours stops working and you cant figure out why, this may be the reason.

Overall a good product, but I'm questioning getting the star shape, which is quite obvious within the glass when lit. If I had to do it again, I'd probably get the circular shape for better overall heat distribution and a more uniform flame around the firepit. It is different, however. With that said, this product is well made and should last forever. The flames easily shoot about 12" high when turned on full and generates lots of heat. As other purchasers have said, it does make a loud hissing sound when the valve is turned to anything but wide open. I tried to soften it by using 1" pipe stuffed with steel wool as others have said to do, and it worked to a small degree, but didn't solve the problem. Finally figured out the only way to stop the hissing was to leave the valve on the firepit wide open and make the flame adjustment at the upstream valve controlling both the BBQ island and the firepit. That works great, but not quite as convenient...stopped the hissing, though.

The Hearth Products Controls Penta Stainless Steel Fire Pit Burner, 24-Inch, Natural Gas gave me exactly the look I wanted. The rest of the pit has American Fyre Designs Prairie Oak Log Kit - PRO-27 , I looked for fire logs for some time before buying this set. I could have spent a lot more money, but I don't think I would be much happier. The detail on the logs are great, the size is perfect. The opening in the pit is 36" and you can see that the logs fill the opening nicely. The metal frame allows the logs to be stood up to create a campfire look. The logs came in a box through UPS and they had damaged the box and in turn broke 3 of the logs. The supplier is replaced them right away. The glass surround in the picture is American Fireglass Tempered Glass Flame Guard for 30" Square Fire Pit. The unseen fire pan is from American Fireglass 36" Square Stainless Steel Drop-in Fire Pit Pan (1/2" Nipple)

Just finished install and it turned out AWESOME.....ran 3/4" BI all the way to burner then reduced to the 1/2" inlet. Let me just say I will NEVER use it at full open it will melt the siding...LOL...1/3 to 1/2 open valve is more than enough. 1/3 to 1/2 open produces a nice flame with a max height of 12-14"....on full open the flame height is easily 24"30" tall....I modified a Firesense Roman fire pit for the pan and worked perfect. If you include the pipe and valves got about $350 in this project.....just FYI I do have a high flow gas meter, it was installed for my pool heater. Even with a regular meter and 1/2" BI this burner would still produce an awesome flame.....UPDATE: Added 40lbs of Starfire Glass 20-Pound Fire Glass "Fire-Cubes" 1-Inch Copper Reflective Cubes and it made a huge difference in the flame appearance and finish see pics highly recommend also.....

Looks great. Very happy with the purchase.However, I had a problem...As expected, this thing throws an epic flame. When turned all the way up this shoots a flame 4 feet high by 30" wide.It works well when the gas is turned all the way up.The problem is during normal usage when the valve is part ON... Maybe 75,000 BTU.. The gas flow inside the pipe and burner made a loud jet sound that was not tolerable.To fix the issue: I converted the 3/4" pipe into a 2" pipe from the valve up to the burner... I packed the 2" pipe half way with #2 steal wool half with 00 steal wool, I also packed some 00 steal wool into the burner female port where the gas is spit into 5 directions.It doesn't put out as much fire now... However, it is silent.Im happy with the shape and fire.

I was a little nervous ordering this since it was more expensive than other burners, but I'm glad I did. Construction seems very good & well thought out. Gives a beautiful flame effect that I could sit a watch for hours, but for the cost of natural gas I limit my use. It puts out a huge flame if you want & is simply magical looking. I just hope it holds up to the weather well. Easy to attach & remove. We built the stainless pan, but if you're not able to weld stainless, you do need the pan for the glass rocks or whatever you'll be covering it with. Photo is a fair low flame, it easily doubles in height.

I didn't know what to expect, not how good the burner would perform until it was all finishes. Fired it up for the first time and was super impressed. This is in a 36" metal fire bowl that I adapted to natural gas. Pictures aren't even at half flow and the flames are easily 18-24". There is a 1-1/4" line reduced to 1/2" and it is plenty of volume for my firepit and 4 burner BBQ. Buy it, looks great and performs very well.

The media could not be loaded.  Great Berner! Tried three of them, 36 inch round one made a lot of noise and would not light all at the same time when you light it, the other one was too small of a flame. This one is perfect!
