Works Great For Setups
I wanted to get a ruler that would allow me to check my fretboards set ups without the frets in the way. Looking at the price of them on StewMac I decided to see what Amazon had to offer. Some reviews said this ruler isn't flat or bends easily and that is not the case for the one I received. It arrived in a padded envelope and was packed well. I used our quartz countertop to check the accuracy and was pleased that every thing was perfectly flat on both sides of the ruler. I have a couple of Les Pauls, Telecasters and Strats along with a PRS and this ruler works on all of them. It has made adjusting my necks much easier to do and the accuracy allows me to get my string action where I like it without the fret buzz that could crop up when I was just using a standard straightedge without the notches. I have not used the Fret Rocker much, but when I checked it, like the ruler, it is also flat and straight. Both feel sturdy and would take a lot of force to bend. I'm glad that I purchased this set as it is a nice addition to my ever growing tool box.

Nice & thick, not fancy.
This notched straight edge & fret rocker are a great value. Nice & thick metal, with an OK finish. No, they are not polished, but for that you either invest more money, or your own time & effort. Quite easy for a novice to learn how to use. There are tutorials all over YouTube. Agreed that the fret rocker is not a string gauge, though it could be with a bit of effort or imagination since we know it to be .08" thick. Even better if the manufacturer put a little bit more effort in & scribed them, but that would up the price of course. Besides, most of use get string action rulers as a separate item, usually when we buy radius gauges. Might have been four stars for the finish, but I am adding in the fifth one to offset the one-star review, and because of the low price. These should last a lifetime with any care at all.

Low Price Indicates Quality To Be Expected of These Items
The quality of the items is what I expected for the price. The are structurally correct, but they lack the refined finish of higher priced tools. The edges are uneven, rough and sharp edged. I expected this when I purchased them. I used large diamond sharpening plates to hone and perfect the contact surfaces. I trued them using a verified level surface. A large carborundum polishing wheel polished up the side surfaces. I now have a set of quality tools, at a fraction of the price! I am very pleased with my purchase.

Not top quality but VERY usable
I like go work on my own guitars. Quality tools are expensive. For home use this gets the job done. No complaints.

Its worth the low cost
I've avoided buying this for years by making my own out of grinding notches in a square. This is more accurate and clean. It's worth the low cost. Use a sheet of freezer paper on your work table and black marker on the surface of the straight edge so it's easier to see between the metal and the wood.

Not a straight edge
The Fret Rocker is fine. The notched straight edge is straight on one side but not on the side I needed. Unfortunately did 2 necks before thinking to check it. Why would you need to check a straight edge for straightness? It's metal and supposed to be straight. Bowed outward in the middle - press on one end and the other lifts 1mm or so. Not good and really hard to understand. Can't recommend something that is not what it says it is.

Does the trick
Straight edge is not super rigid and gets bent fairly easily. Make sure it is straight before you use it or that could make it harder to tell whether the curve is in the neck or in the straight edge. Straight edge starts on the 2nd fret. I don't know if that's standard. But yeah this was a good value and helped me setup my guitar that now plays like a dream. And helped me confirm that another neck is warped.
