Great Curler - nifty and efficient!
I've used the Caruso a couple of times now and both times have loved the results - beautiful, bouncy curls in 30 mins. It steams up quickly (literally a few seconds) and you're good to go (just make sure to use distilled water as tap water can be quite hard and eventually corrode the unit). It comes with a set of 14 foam rollers (with clip covers which aid the steaming and keep the curlers in place while you wait) which are adequate for a full head of hair. I have very long hair and prefer tighter curls all the way through so have ordered extra rollers but I imagine most people will be satisfied with the included set. I also liked the booklet that came with it illustrating the different methods of applying the rollers to achieve particular results (eg wavy, tight curl, ringlets etc). It's small and reasonably light so can definitely be taken when travelling. I was a little skeptical before buying this as different people reported different results but for me it worked splendidly - gorgeous curls that stayed in place all evening (with a little aid of hairspray to finish off). It even made my hair shinier and softer, something you don't really get with traditional, dry curlers. All in all - a winner! Would definitely recommend to others wanting beautiful curls or just a bit more body and oomph in their hair :)

Everything they say is true!
Update: my hair was taking forever to dry when I use these curlers and I finally figured out that I really didn't need the shields that they provide. Now I use them without this shields and my hair dries much faster and the whole process is quicker. I really can't believe it, but these curlers work when nothing else does. I have baby fine, thin hair and have been wearing it in a medium bob for years. I told my hairdresser that if I had to blow my hair into this style one more time, I would jump into my tub with my hair dryer and end it all. I wanted the new ringlet-y look and I wanted to wear my hair longer which the bob just didn't cooperate with...got stuck in my collar and looked like a mess.. My hairstylist did a great look with a tapered wand but I bought one and the curls lasted about 5 minutes when I did it. I tried my old Remington velvet hot rollers and the curls lasted longer, but not great. Regular curling iron? Noooo. So, I remembered how much I loved my old steam curlers back in the day and decided to take a chance on the Caruso. Voila! Curls all day and when the ringlets loosened I had a nice tousled look. Great. But when I got the set it had only 9 curlers and some miscellaneous extra shields. Amazon gave me the option of returning all of it or getting a small discount. I opted for the discount (because I wanted to keep the set) and bought some extra rollers with the money I saved. Now I just have to work my morning routine so I blow my hair dry and put in the curlers FIRST and then do my makeup and get dressed, eat breakfast, because it takes more than 20 mins for the curlers to dry. I sped it along the first time using my hair dryer, but if I can just get things going in the right order, that won't be needed. I just wish I could heat them all at once like I used to be able to do with my steam set. But this at least works. So yay!

Generally easy to use
The Caruso Curlers work well for curls that last one day only. I have naturally wavy hair, and after letting the curlers sit for 30 minutes, I have big bouncy curls. I have to use quite a bit of hairspray for the curl to stay all day. The curls are not like a blowout, where I have minimal curling to update and wear the second day. The second day the curl is gone with these curlers; however, I like that the steam doesn't damage my hair. Some of the curler cases pop off and don't stay well, but overall, I give the set four stars. Not the best, but pretty good and doesn't take forever to do.

I love this Item!!
It's quick and works so good!!! but I do not use the snap on covers I use Conair Salon White Roller clips...work great!!! I have super long hair...and I use 4 jumbo rollers...thats all...four straight down from the bang area to the nape of the neck...Just 4 like a mohawk...maybe... but the new styles are smooth on the side so when my hair is almost dry I set it in 4 lg rollers with the Conair clips holding the bottom two rollers and the pointed metal clip for the top two.... A little drying with blower dryer and perfect.. Also after exercise I use one quick one on the top and two on the side rolled to the face so it smooths it out and gives very finished look. Soo Quick!!! Easy on Hair and done while you do other things like drink coffee and get dressed. Got one the first time they came out and found out that with our hard water you must remember to empty unit as soon as you turn it off to prevent water build up. Great for little kids and so light...I sleep in mine. Love it!!! Nothing even close to working like this!!!

excellent, easy
i had used a caruso steamer system years ago and then found it still available about 15yrs ago and started using again. have fine, straight hair which looks good that way but often want a different look. during covid let my hair grow to middle of back and didnt color it. happily, it is now a natural platinum ashblond/white which i really like after trying to chase the white roots . i felt i wanted a little different look and remembered by old caruso set but the steamer didnt work any longer but i had around 50 perfectly good caruso rollers. i ordered this caruso set and i love it. gives body without any damage, doesnt burn my scalp, easy to use rollers, and nice waves, curl. the waves and curl can be adjusted by just brushing or coming and add a bit of a light hairspray- just a touch- and everything stays. buy this product. note: i have never set my hair totally wet, usually not even damp. i would use on dry hair .

Tedious and costly
PRO's +curls CON's -damages the ends of my hair -tedious -costly I was really looking forward to using this product but after I received it, my experience has been lukewarm. I bought this because a few years ago when I used to use a flat/curling iron, the iron damaged my hair in the long run; steam seemed like a safer alternative. I have thick straight silky hair and all the damaged hair from before has since been grown out and cut off. I conditioned my hair every shower and I use Tresemme Keratin Smooth Infusing Heat Protection and Shine Spray. Every time I use the Steam Hairsetter it curled my hair as it should but I notice the ends of my hair both looked and felt dry and brittle (even though I used a heat protectant). The curls wouldn't last and uncurl after three hours and my hair would be straight again :( When I used a flat/curling iron, the curls would last the until the end of the day without mousse or hairspray. This product is also pretty costly for someone like me. Since I have thick hair I have to buy additional rollers and a pack can cost from seven to ten dollars. The rollers themselves aren't well made. I don't know what I am doing wrong; not matter how tight I curl my hair around the roller, the roller doesn't stay in place and slowly slips down the strands of my hair. I read around the reviews and some said you have to buy additional hair clips (not the one that comes with the rollers) to make the hair stay in place which is another additional cost for the customer. The whole process takes a long time. I have to make sure I take the right amount of hair and that I wrap it around the roller in a way to make sure it's not twisted and the heat spreads out evenly. This takes a few tries. You have to make sure the roller isn't on the steamer for too long but you also have to make sure that it isn't on the steamer for too short of the time either. Yet, there's only like a three second gap between too short and too long so it's easy to miss the mark. The design of the traveler edition steamer does no favor to the user. The top of the steamer is tilted so you can place the shield/clip on top and when you remove the roller from the steamer the shield/clip will "slide" down onto the steamer itself. The problem though, is that the bumps that stops the shield/clip from sliding *off* the steamer altogether are really short and small so it slides off anyways. It would have been better if they just made the top of the steamer flat and you can just place the shield/clip onto the steamer without making sure it's placed juuust right so it won't fall off. All of these problem combined make the whole process extremely tedious. Another complaint is that it's hard to predict what your hair is going to look like. You can't really control how the hair will be curled. I mean yes, there are different size curlers and it comes with instructions but they didn't help. For example, I rolled my hair to curl *in* but after I removed the roller, my hair curled out. I used the jumbo rollers to make my hair wavy but got a retro 40's style curls. When I used flat/curling iron, I had full control. Have I known all of this was going to happen, I would have returned to using a flat/curling iron for my hair and bought a new iron instead. I'm sorry for the 3 stars, I really wanted to like it.

Gives shiny, bouncy curls!
I'm very glad I followed the advice of the rave reviews for this little gadget. Once u get the concept down, which admittedly is different than most hot-roller sets, its very simple and fast to get your hair rolled up and 15 min later u have healthy-looking, bouncy curls. I love that the set works on steam principle (be careful about placing hands over the uncovered steam jet - hot! As I found out. ) I use a leave-in heat-protecting cream in my towel-dried hair after shampooing, but also use the curlers on second-day dry hair (I have dry, below shoulder length, thickish hair and shampoo about every 3rd day) and it always produces a bouncy, long-lasting set. The inexpensive price and small, easy-store size are bonuses!

Easily curls hair without drying it out.
These curlers leave hair soft and manageable. The product does not come in a Travel Case, so I was disappointed. However, the curlers are great for curling my hair. I am growing out my hair, and these rollers give me styling versatility. There are several size rollers to accommodate all hair lengths. Additionally, the rollers in the hair dry quickly so one may reuse rollers during the same curling session. Over the years, I managed to burn my fingers, hands, and scalp with curling irons. With these steam rollers, it is very difficult to burn one's fingers, hands, or scalp. I recommend this product for anyone desiring gently curled hair without the drying effect of regular hot curlers or curling irons.
