"CALORIE-CONTROLLED RECIPES, HELPFUL KITCHEN TIPS, ADVICE ON HEALTH!"
This informative, inspiring cookbook chronicles how to incorporate this diet into your daily routine, how to prevent the risk of heart disease and other diseases, showing us how easy it is to cut-down on caloric intake. There are 150 simple, easy-to-prepare recipes on a friendly budget, designed for our busy lives. This cookbook is a follow-up of the Fast-Diet, offering several helpful tips on recipes and a more healthy life-style. I have followed the Fast-Diet, and found it very useful, and easy to follow. The recipes include breakfast, lunch, and dinners. There are salads, soup, fish and several recipes to choose from. All recipes are low-calorie, and nutritious. Information is provided on the impact of high-caloric intake in relation to disease as the author highlights the crucial importance of a low-calorie diet on the road to better health in maintaining discipline, and in preventive medicine. As we try new recipes, I will leave updates. We are going to select different salads and soups for starters as many of these recipes are inviting. Interesting, educational, and extremely useful. Highly recommended!

Excellent guide for interesting small meals.
Having just received the bad news that my blood pressure is high, I set about doing something about it. My Nutritional Healing book from 1990 recommends fasting 3 days a month but is not specific about what that entails. As luck would have it, I found THE FAST DIET COOKBOOK at the library and liked it so much that I just bought it.It gives variety and takes the work out of figuring out calories. It was taking me hours to look up every little thing to fit two healthy meals into 500 calories before I found this book. The yumminess of these tiny meals and the fact that I only have to stick to 500 cal for one day is very motivating for me - a lifelong diet skeptic with low self-control when it comes to food. Yes, some of the ingredients may be hard to find. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and know where I could find fresh Kaffir lime leaves but I'm not willing to drive an hour to get them. So I leave them out. Or use some other herb.My one complaint about this book: it doesn't mention what kind of doctors Dr.Schenker and Dr. Mosley are. They may be medical doctors but it says that she is a nutritionist and he is "medically trained" whatever that means. They may have PhDs but to use Dr. in one's name when writing a book about health falls somewhere between ostentatious and fraudulent unless you specify what sort of doctorate you have.

Promising diet with good recipes
Just a few weeks into this diet and I can attest that it does work and is much less complicated than any other diets I have tried. My wife is a very good cook and the several recipes she has made from this cookbook we both found excellent, low calorie and filling. These recipes would make good meals on any day not just fasting days. My wife does say that it takes someone who knows their way around the kitchen to prepare these dishes so it is not geared to someone like me without experience in the kitchen. Four stars because if you are a dieter and the cook preparing the meal it is challenging to be around all this food and not eat too much. I first borrowed this book from the library to see if we liked it and we decided it would be a worthy purchase. On the diet, I am unable say as yet whether or not it is a passing fancy for me but it was recommended by friends that have had great success losing lbs. and inches.

Didn't like the food choices
I purchased this book in the summer along with the "the Fast Diet" book. The diet itself is great but I did not enjoy most of the meals provided in this book because many of them are too heavy for the summer and some of the food combinations were too weird for me. Maybe because the diet was created in England some of the meals were peculiar to me but I can say that the recipes were simple and flexible enough for me develop my own food choices and substitutions. The book is well written, visually appealing with plenty of photos, and provides plenty of recipes. It's still worthwhile if only to help you create your own diet.

GOOD BOOK BUT I REC’D USED COPY:(
The copy I received was used and stained. There is something sticky all over the back cover, and when I opened it, there’s some kind of stain running down the spine. It’s as if someone read it while taking a break while eating Chinese food and had an accident because it looks like a few peices of fried rice are stuck to the back cover. Pretty disgusting. I’m sending it back.Otherwise, I am giving the book 5 stars!! I don’t think it’s fair when people take off points based on factors that really don’t pertain to the product. That being said, I had no problem returning it and received it about 16 hours after I ordered it, so good job Amazon! The book has some good info, good pics, and good recipes. I probably won’t order it again now that I’ve previewed it, but that’s only because the recipes have more ingredients than I want to bother with. But that’s just me, and the book wasn’t advertised as quick or limited-ingredient recipes.

Disappointing
First the good: the recipe instructions are clear, and relatively easy to follow; the photographs, although not present for every recipe, are abundant and well done. Now the bad: too many of the recipes are what I would call "exotic" (at least for American tastes), with hard to find ingredients. Things like: tamagoyaki, shiitake noodle dashi, calabaza con acelgas, tomato dahl, sashimi, bagna cauda, cottage fish, etc. Ingredients like pomegranate molasses, harissa paste, celery root, gravlax, mirin, and cavolo. Also, very, very heavily weighted towards vegetarian dishes. Look, I wasn't expecting meatloaf and fried chicken, but I was hoping for a better mix than what I got.I'm also really disappointed that the only nutrition information provided is the calorie count. No indication of protein, fats, carbs, sugar, sodium, cholesterol, etc., that would help one to create a balanced fast diet day, especially for those of us who really like to keep track of one or more of those things.

fast diet cookbook
This is my new cook bible, the recipes are exceptionally tasty, even my husband has commented on several which he has also enjoyed. Some are a bit time consuming the first try but with practise it becomes easier. Great book!!!!

It works!
It's the easiest diet I've ever tried. Lost 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks, and going strong. I have no problems with the "fast" day, just knowing I can eat the following day. I would recommend this diet to anyone who's basically healthy but overweight.

Generally great and very useful book
A glossary of culinary terms would be useful for those of us that those of us who 'cook' rather infrequently i.e blanch or wilt.A ring back format would help so that the book can be laid flat and doesn't shut as soon as you let go of it.Preparation time would be helpful in some cases too but overall very helpful to have easy balanced precalculated recipes to try saves a lot of time.
