Great value for your $.
As a professional saxophonist performing Three to five nights a week, I love this microphone system. You get everything you need. The setup is effortless, I never need to adjust anything except the dB level once in a while, which is literally just a touch of a button. I never lose connection with the receiver when I play, and I like to move around a lot when I play.I love that the transmitter is powered with a rechargeable battery that gets up to 16 hours. I can play about 4 different gigs on one single charge, which is really nice. And if I need to, I can charge the battery right on the gig by putting the battery in the receiver, no need to keep an extraneous charger around, which is really great.I’ve used this mic on lots of different stages, everything from small bars and clubs, to large scale festival stages running numerous electronics, and this system always works. One thing that really is nice is that you don’t need phantom power to use this system, which is just one less thing for me to worry about going to a venue where I don’t know the sound system.Overall, this system is absolutely worth the $600 that I paid for it, and it even comes with a carrying bag with molded cutouts for all the parts, which most other microphone systems don’t even come with. I have to hand it to Shure, they really made a musician friendly wireless system here.

Great solution for Sax/Bone/Trumpet Players
I have used a lot of microphones over the years...and most sounded good. Problems I had were feedback issues with some of the louder groups, forced to stand very still in order to not fade in/out while playing, etc. The new Shure GLXD14/B98 clip on mike system is fabulous! Battery life with a fully charged battery is about 14-15 hours...incredible! Also the Beta 98 microphone has a very "flat" (aka realistic) sound and I don't get any key noises when playing on any of my saxes. One feature I love is that the receiver has a built in port to slide your battery into and it will do a full charge in about 30-minutes. But, in all honesty, with the long-life of the batteries for the transmitter...you'll probably just charge after/before a gig. The fact that this unit is digital also provides a very noise-free sound...with no interference from radio or other devices that can create issues. I highly recommend this mike/receiver setup as a GREAT SOLUTION for live sound reinforcement applications!!

Our Favorite Accordion Microphone
Purchased this to be used with our accordion from our live band. Amazing sound, convenient battery charger in the receiver and overall a great value. We use it every single weekend since we bought it, anywhere from 6-10 hours per weekend, sometimes more and it still sounds like the day we bought it.

A great wireless unit!
I've used this mic on my trumpet in a variety of venues. I've never had signal drop off or any other issues as I have (repeatedly) with my Sennheiser unit. Highly recommended - the best out there!

Not suitable for busy venues
I agree with the previous reviewer about the system not being suitable in busy venues. The GLX-D operates in the highly polluted 2.4 GHz band. Shure's claim "If interference occurs, the receiver and transmitter intelligently move together to the best open frequencies, without ANY audio interruption." is deceptive and disingenuous. If you are in a venue with lots of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth users then you will experience continuous micro-dropouts resulting in a "grainy" or distorted sound. The blue RF status LED will seldom light up suggesting the system is working very hard continuously switching frequencies to dodge interference - likely dozens of time per second to give it that choppy or grainy sound. Even my older budget PGX system works far better in these circumstances. My recommendation is to avoid any wireless system that uses the 2.4 GHz band.
