SKB1SKB-R1906 Roto Molded Rack Expansion Case (with Wheels), Black (R1906)

I've been in the DJ business for 41 years (started when I was 5?) Actually in the beginning I had to build my own road cases. Finally a company called SKB came along and developed some great products for the Mobile DJ. I also own the Roto-Case that sits perfectly on top of this Expander Case, so now I can simply wheel my equipment into the venue and be set up in minutes. The only improvement I would suggest is to add a port on each side of the Expander Case for running cables to the Roto-Case. Otherwise you have to run your cables out one of the doors. My amplifier is mounted in the Expander and therefore I run cables from the Expander to the Roto and to my speakers. There's ports in the Roto-Case so I'm wondering why SKB didn't put ports in the Expander Case. Anyway I used a 1& 1/2" spade drill bit to cut a port on each side. It might void the lifetime warranty but in my opinion this case will last forever no matter what you do to it. Both cases have TSA locking trigger latches, something I didn't have with my old carpeted cases. One of my regular venues allow me to set up early in the day, so being able to lock everything is ideal. These cases are slightly larger than my old cases but a heck of lot lighter. I suggest you visit the SKB website and watch the videos on how they make this stuff, it's pretty cool.

Great piece of gear by SKB! The problem with flight cases is that they just weigh too much, and if they do have casters, they're so heavy that they can't be lifted into your vehicle or you run into issues trying to get your gear into a venue if you can't lift it. The R1906 has six rack units in front, and six in the rear. The covers on the front and back are solid and open and close easily and snugly. The casters are very large and solid, making this unit easy to transport. There are large handles on either side of the expander. The SKB R102, 104, or 106 sits perfectly on top!

Love the base. Rolls very nice. Just wish there was a access panel in it to place cables through. I drilled a hole to run cables from bottom to top. Everything else is good

I used to rack my gear in a Mighty GigRig (1SKB19-R1406), but was looking for a way to fit the same amount of gear in an easier to handle package. Since this is part of a two-piece setup, it fit the bill perfectly. I got this to hold my SKB 1SKB-R106 Roto Rack and it does the job perfectly. The lip around the top of the R1906 fits the base of the R106 snugly and securely. I agree with other reviews that there should be some cable ports (preferably with covers), but other than that, this rack kicks butt just like every other SKB product.
