Black Donkey - 50 ESE Coffee Paper Pods 44mm | Intenso

This pack contains 25 Intenso and 25 Supremo foil wrapped bags (I've separately ordered the decaff versions too). They are relatively strong in flavour, as expected for espresso coffee. The Supremo is more to my liking and the Intenso is my son-in-laws favourite (we are the main coffee drinkers). The Intenso is the stronger roast. The bags fit perfectly and the taste is consistent. I usually grind my own beans and use these ESEs as a quick substitute, but I am finding I am using them more and more. They work out about double the cost of grinding my own, however, 50 will last me a while, so the small extra is worth it. I have tried premium branded ESE bags before, but I can detect little difference between the Black Donkey ESEs and those that are three times the price. Why pay more I ask myself?

I have only just replaced my coffee machine and bought a "variety pack" of Black Donkey pods, i.e. 50 assorted Black Donkey pods and a pack of Illy pods. Of the three I much prefer the red variety. Not that I disliked any of them but he red "intensos" won hands down. My wife enjoyed those most too. So much so that I spent this morning patrolling the local coffee shops trying to find some to buy. Needless to say this morning was fruitless, I will, however, source some eventually. I don't know if you can help but Ip am willing to use you as my main supplier. Both my wife and I are avid coffee drinkers. My new machine is a De Longhi which makes excellent coffee, certainly easily and of good strength. I previously had a small mon-descript machine which provided good service for about 5 years however, i accidentally broke the brew receptacle and couldn't replace it so I had to buy a new one. I am well pleased with my new machine. If I have a single piece of advice it 1.. Practice with the machine, and you'll soon get the idea. 2. Make seperate cups, till you develop your consistency. This way you'll make less waste (and mess!) I should be glad to know if you can supply me with Black Donkey supplies, as I am close to running out.

Easy to use, nice coffee, would buy again

I normally purchase the caffe borbone 44mm ese pods. As they were out of stock I thought I would try these as an alternative. To be honest these are really disappointing, the gold packets are very weak and the red packets are a bit stronger but have a really bad after taste. As an espresso these are really bad, no real crema and bitter, I really wouldn't recommend you buy them. Use them with a latte and they are ok I suppose but that is just to use them up, I definitely wouldn't buy again and its highly unlikely I will bother to finish these and will just get some caffee borbone pods which are so much better for a similar price.
