HUGE fan of The Sims
If you are considering purchasing this game, well you are on the right track! The Sims and all of its expansion packs are amazing. I guess it does depend on the type of person you are, a handful of people find The Sims boring. But the Deluxe Edition is double the package than the original, and that is why the price is a bit higher than everything else. (Well it's different now, with Double Deluxe out the regular deluxe edition is WELL worth the price!!)So what do you do when playing the sims? Basically you control the lives of these little 3D people (either adult or children). You get to dress them up, find a job, make friends to satisfy the social motive and get promotions with certain skills. You can burn, drown, or starve them (as torturous as this might sound, its actually kind of fun...). Also with the Deluxe Edition comes a bunch of new goodies that weren't in the original like Servo, the nifty $15,000 robot who serves your every need. He'll cook and clean while you make your sims couch potatoes. One thing I love is the Gnome maker. Your sims work on their mechanical skills while making these little gnomes (that can help you out with all of your gardening needs in Makin` Magic). There's also tons of different career tracks. You can be a chef or a musician or tons of other things, although you as the player do not get to follow the Sims to work, its still interesting to see.The Sims, as other people say can get boring once in awhile, but thats why there are so many expansion packs, allowing one to visit other areas of the game. (Hot Date allows your Sim to go on dates, House Party lets you throw parties... and so on)You can now decorate with a lot more (i.e. rugs) and you get tons of new building tools (windows, doors, wallpaper, and floors). It's a lot more interesting with the other expansion packs, so if you purchase this one and get bored, buy some of the other ones. Unleashed is my favorite. It's fun to start off small, with the small, uncomfortable couches, loveseats, dining chairs/tables, beds, ... basically the cheapest of everything. And as your Sims rise to the top of their careers, so does your bank account, and voila! You have the big screen TV, giant windows, expensive flooring and etc.Sometimes the Sims will irritate you because they're kinda dumb and get stuck sometimes. And of course once in awhile they'll just shrug their shoulders and forget everything you've qued up for them.I give this game 5 stars because it runs smoothly on my system, and the installation time isn't all that bad, I can wait for the loading screen, and the game is just really entertaining and not to mention addicting. I adore all the little interactions and things to do with this game, and its pratically all I talk about =p

No Download
I was realy excided to receive this but when I tried to download it into my computer it would not do anything. I would gladly return it but I would end up paying more to return it than what the game cost. O and p.s. it didn't even come with a box or an instruction book.

If you like it, you like it.
Sims games usually are fun for the first couple of minutes and then you get to this point where it's just frustratingly painful to try and cram all of those social visits, promotions at work, and family relations into one day and still have time to eat, sleep, and use the restroom. Only after beating the game do you realize that you yourself are just a sim, sitting at your computer and you've abandoned your social, work, and family life to play the game nonstop. Not to mention the horrifying repercussions it has on your home.

The Sims keeps getting smoother!
I have been a Maxis fan since the original Sim City, and I can safely say that each product I buy surmounts the previous one. After losing both my Sims and Living Large CDs, I was very excited to see this pack at such a great price. Plus, on top of that, a lot of the Win98 bugs have been worked out! Yes, its still slow to install, but that's NOTHING compared to the seemingly endless game play lockups that I experienced with my original version. The game probably runs much smoother because all the extemporaneous files on my computer are gone. I wish the rest of my hard drive looked so neat and clean! Granted, there are patches and such for the old versions, but that is not always a sure-fire way to improve play. I don't doubt that the coding was specifically reworked for this edition. My only confusion: It took me a few minutes to figure out that when you install Hot Date, you don't use the Hot Date CD for game play. You actually use the first CD from the deluxe edition. This is, most likely, mentioned in the manual somewhere, but, personally, I stopped reading manuals at some point in the mid 1990's.The only tricky part: Sims Creator can be frustrating! Trying to make my face look natural on a Sim has, so far, proved fruitless. Artistically, I tend to prefer pictures with deep or stark shadows and highlights on the face. However, these look really strange when slapped on a Sim. Ironically, those horrible department store photos, ie. the kind your mom made you sit for when you were a kid, work the best. Or, you can always pull out those old yearbook photos! Its kind of fun to create a gangly 13 year-old version of yourself. Just don't expect your other Sims to be attracted to it!Aside from that, I was very pleased with this software, and my Sims fervor has returned with a vengance.

Everyone is right- this game is GREAT!...
I have to say, I bought this game with the Unleashed expansion pack on a whim, thinking I would see what all the hype was about. I found out everyone was right, this is a great game. I love to buy empty lots and build my own houses on them, really starting from scratch. I have seen a few reviews on the Unleashed expansion pack, and I have to say the animals are OK, but they take up more time and energy than a child does. This can be a problem when you are first starting a family and trying to build up a relationship. I also have some advice for the first timers out there, when you first begin, keep one person at home to do all the chores that add up, if you send everyone to work, nothing gets done until way up into the night. I have also found that it is best to take the first day off when you create a new family, while they are still in a good mood, let them socialize and set them down to study cooking or something similar. I had more than a few people burn to death because they didn't know how to cook. After learning the ropes on this game, you will have loads of fun, and you will be addicted just like everyone else.
