Looks better than I expected! 5 photos included
The media could not be loaded. This fake rock surprised me, it looks more realistic than I expected. I am attaching a collage of 5 photos that I will be referencing in this review.1. The first photo shows the rock in my hand with the "rock" side up.2. The second photo shows the rock with the storage side up. The bottom is covered with a white plastic plate with a sticker. This sticker was quite difficult to remove. I needed the aid of Goo-gone to remove it.3. The third photo shows the rock with the plastic plate removed, and a regular house key (2 2/8" in length and 1" in width at the widest part) in the opening. The only way the key fits is with the key positioned diagonally, but you can stack more than one key if needed. A larger key (like a car key) will not fit.In this photo you can also see the construction of the cover. You need to leave room for the cover sides to slide into the opening.4. Photo 4 shows how the key in a plastic baggy inside the opening. The white cover is not water tight, so you need to protect the key from the moisture. The baggy takes up extra room, so I think it would be difficult to fit more than 2 keys as you need to leave room for the cover.5. The fifth photo show this rock among real rocks. It does not stick out as fake. Pretty good!Thumbs up! I am pretty pleased!Ali Julia review

Perfect solution, peace of mind and a tip of an extra layer of protection
Not much to say. It works. The key compartment is relatively small, but any standard size key will fit. I tried to get fancy and put a car key in it but didn't fit.The rock looks just like a rock. Put it out in the yard and almost lost it before I even looked away. To anyone who walks by, even if they stare right at it, will never guess that there's anything in this rock. It even has a pretty rough texture, like a rock, so it blends right into the environment. We don't even have other rocks in the yard where we put it. Though it's the only "rock" out there, there is nothing about it that says "pick me up and look inside," and I knew there was a key in it.What we did, though, for the sake of being paranoid, was put the key tot he lock to the outdoors shed and hid the house key inside the shed. This way, for whatever reason a cat or dog knocked over the rock and exposed the bottom (which I painted black), the worse thing that would happen is someone got into the shed where there would be no reason to think there was a key to the house in there, let alone where in the shed.Anyway, this beats wrapping a key in aluminum foil and burying it in the garden. Get the rock. This is a less than $10 solution to keep from having to pay who-knows-how-much for a locksmith if you lose your house key.

It looks real and is heavy like a rock.
It only gets three stars because the inside space will not fit some keys. Therefore you must grind the handle down on the key to make it fit.And the plastic bottom can easily fall off.Otherwise it’s perfectI simply added some sealant to keep things secure.

Does it's job... but don't expect anything fancy.
I like:-Mine arrived an looks VERY similar to what was pictured-Sitting in my landscaping it blends in very well-Sun/weather have not faded it at all-It's cheap (I'd recommend it for the $5 or so I paid)I dislike:-The white piece they holds the key in is not incredibly tight. I think if I picked it up and shook it around it would probably fall right off (at this point if it was an intruder they would have already figured the thing out though). I bent the pieces out a little and that helped a lot.Other peoples dislikes I can kind of understand:-It's only half a rock. However, the one flat side helps it stay where you put it, rather than it blowing/rolling away-It's not a strong seal. No, but it holds a key. If I were storing food or something in it I would be more concerned with water/bugs getting in.-It's light. But for me, it's stayed in place just fine.

Suitable Way to Hide Key in Plain Sight
As been noted previously, the picture of the product provided is misleading. It gives you the impression that there are 2 halves of the rock (which would have been ideal), but that is NOT the case. The picture shown presents the rock upside down with the key and white plastic bottom (which fits into the rocks underside like say it was a piggy bank) next to the rock surface right side up.There is a small space to house the key, but it suffices.Someone walking by will not likely notice it if placed among other rocks in your backyard. It would be wise to put it in a discreet spot away from a walking path so that it is not inadvertently knocked over revealing what it really is.It is suitable way to hide a spare key, but I was somewhat disappointed to see something very similar advertised soon after at half the price at Ace Hardware.

Love the person who invented this - great place to ...
Love the person who invented this - great place to hide a house key without it at all being obvious - blends right in to the lawn area. The fake rock is small and can fit in your hand. The item has some weight and looks very close to a realistic rock. The cover on the back is white plastic and easily pulls out to retrieve the key. I was able to store my spare key that’s of normal size. Overall, it’s a realistic look. I've placed this rock together with other real rocks. You can’t even tell the difference just by looking. However if you run your finger across or hold it, it’s an immediate giveaway. So I suggest you pile some real rocks on it and/or rub some dirt on it so it isn't obvious that it's just lying there. I also don't have it near the door rather around the side of the house where the casual observer isn't going to see anyone accessing the fake rock. Highly recommend purchase. I love it and of course my kids love it; as they often forget their keys.
