Set up in minutes and works on all doors and angles
Took no time to set up and works brilliantly, so forget the reviews that state won’t work on some doors.... works at all angles and positions and are no bigger or smaller than other manufacturers door sensors. Peace of mind is key here and notifying me when doors are open and closed is fantastic.Have binned my old alarm and now saving £40 per month .... all doors in my home are now protected with Ring.

Not useful on it's own.
Is not a standalone item. For £52 whatever it was, I was expecting that to be standard, instead you need to spend an extra £250 to get the Ring Station setup, we're talking £300 just so you can check when a door is open, i'm not that fussed at that price. I was hoping for an SMS alert system, it's not even compatible with my phone (a 2018 model) oh im sorry im not one of those people who buys a new phone every year.. Don't get me wrong it looks and feels quality and is what I wanted but just on it's own and this wasn't clear to me in the description, regrettably had to return and do some more product research.

Good solid contact sensor.
Having purchased the Basic Ring House Alarm of a main unit, one motion sensor and one contact sensor, it quickly became apparent I had more than one door/window and needed more sensors. The good thing about these sensors that are not too small or too big, although there are 2 alternative 'magnets' you can buy, a slimmer one is available if you so wish. and they feel and look good quality too.You can either screw these on with the supplied screws and/or plugs that are provided for masonry (no masonry drill though) or use the 3M tape supplied, which being lazy is what I did !After 24 hours the tape really sticks, so be prepared if you ever want to remove them, it will bring old the paint or wall paper with it.You really need to line up the 'magnet' or 'main part' then press it on firmly exactly where you want it, you really don't get a second chance as the tape is really sticky !Take note of the lines on the two parts thet you need to line up though, I tested mine on the table first (make sure the bleeps and the light flashed) then literally picked them up and fitted then making sure not to turn or reverse them in the process though. As is usual for Ring, the instructions leave nothing to chance and there are also videos on the Ring web site too if you are unsure, but it also 'talks you through it' on the app as well, so no excuses really. When you open or close the door/window the contacts separate or come together and a blue light on the main body will flash, telling you it is working, depending where you are you will hear a beep form the main unit too if it is within earshot. The first one took me a while to fit about 10 minutes or so but I easily halved the time for the next ones, as you get into the routine. There is also a knack to naming the sensors within the app too. I for instance called mine something like : Kitchen - Top Window and Living Room - Right Side Window etc. this method will also group all the 'Kitchen' and 'Living Room' sensors together too (same method applies to mothing sensors by the way), making them easy to identify, I have 14 contact sensors fitted to all my windows and external doors. When you pair then with the main unit, it tells you to scan the code (via your phones camera) on the inside of the main part (that houses the battery) after you have pulled the battery tab out, but I found it a lot easier to scan the code on the separate card in the box I also wrote the location on the card as well, as I mentioned above) .. either way it will work of course.Within the app you can decide what sound it will make, or you can have them silent if you want, the noise can be open 'on' or 'off' and close 'on' or 'off, the noise actually comes form the main box but you also get notifications on your phone too, which you can also turn 'on' or 'off', there is loads of control over what happens, so tailor it to suit yourself.I even went mad and fitted sensors to my garage door and shed door, both of which are metal and I though that would 'shield' the signal, but no they work fine !Well so far so good and they have been working fine for well over 8 weeks now, even the very cold weather has had no effect on the outside sensors.Nothing bad to say at all about this excellent sensor and it has a claimed battery life much longer than most other sensors too, just as well as batteries aren't cheap !Hope this helps you !

Great add ons
I bought an extra 5 door sensors to add to the basic kit. They all connected first time and work over 60 meters away from the base unit in my workshop with the range extender in the middle in a metal shed.

Great addition to ring alarm system
Bought in addition to the ring alarm system, brilliant sensors. Decided to use the double sided sticky tape to place them rather than drill into upvc frames etc, seem sturdy enough. The sensors don't have to be close to each other, so if like me, you have odd shaped door frames they will work.

does not work
no accessories can be added to the current system. even scanning the qr code will not allow them to added to the current 5 piece set up.

Great size and functionality
I have been reading the negative reviews of the V2 Ring Alarm and its components and I am glad I purchased the V1 system. These contact sensors are a good size and the adhesive strips included are very strong and adhere very quickly on uPVC. I have uPVC windows that have bevelled edges on the internal frame that seems like it would be an issue but these sensors were compact enough to fit and not be visible from the outside or appear ugly on the inside and I have had no issues with any of these sensors since installation and I have ended up buying more.

item works well although these did not turn up with the "micro" contactor
I originally ordered the Ring 10 piece kit, the contact sensors all came with 2 contactors, the one that's similar size to the sensor and the "micro" version which is good for windows when you are struggling to mount the larger contactor. I assumed (obviously wrongly) that these would come with these alternate contactors like previous ones, but alas no. So I have had to struggle to fit these to the windows, these are very bulky, the "micro" connectors are so much easier to use. that said I would still recommend the ring system, I have quite a large system now and all windows and doors are covered.
