open the lock and rip off the top plastic layer to expose the locking ring. Then its just like changing the combo on any other bike lock. Remove the locking ring, pull off dials and realign slots to new combination and reinstall locking washer. I don't understand why they try and stop you from changing the combo.This description is wrong also. the CL-411-BK is aluminum and there is no brass in this thing.

I bought this for my bike to lock up. It jammed 2 times or got stuck 2 times when I tried to unlock it and take it off. But overall it's long and protects my bike as expected.
