Star Wars Light Saber
This product was a hit with our friend's 3 and 5 year old boys - these were birthday gifts(one for each) the "clash" noises were very realistic. The lights were really neat too. They played with them for hours. The battery compartment is easy to get to with a phillips screwdriver. Ok - I admit it, I am 36 and I want one! Really fun, kid-friendly toy.

Appearence leads to frustration, frustration leads to 'hate', hate leads to buyers remorse, pass on this
I bought the Anakin version of the electronic light saber. The only difference is the hilt. These are not good. You want to pass on this one. The hilt on both are passable and the sound chip is pretty good, but they way they do the blade is awful. It is not lit up and down the blade. It is only thinly lit at 3 spots. In a room with any kind of light the effect is awful. Doesn't looke like a lightsaber at all. You get blue light that fades...then it gets blue again then it fades. In a pitch black room, it looks better but still pretty bad.I am sure, other than price, the only reason someone would look at these are because they are the only 'rectrable' version. The bottom third never retracts. And the other pieces if you hang it from a belt blade down will also start coming out. The overall design with the poor lighting is just a really cheap, bad-looking toy. There is no Obi-Wan version in the 'Ultimate' collection. But if you want a blue blade you can go with Anakin (pre darkside blue blade) Star Wars Ultimate Anakin FX Lightsaber This does not retract but looks a million times better. It glows very relastically up and down the blade in a nice pale blue color. It looks great.I normally write reviews on products I really like. They are well designed, good value for the money, often better than expected. I am very glad I purchased them and want to share. I also write when I want to alert people that to me in my honest experience this is a product I think they will regret getting and certainly will not live up to expectations. Sadly this is the later. The ulitmate FX one is the former, go with the ulitmate one. The idea of a retractable blade was so appealing to me I bought an electronic one. But it just looks so bad that even if it was fully retractable it would not be worth it. Buy the ultimate one, even if you can not get an Obi Wan hilt, you will be happier. And if you want to go up to the metal hilt you can get an Obi Wan ultimate version.

Obi-Wan Kenobi electronic lightsaber
My grandsons, ages 5 1/2 and 6, adore these lightsabers. They are great fun, the kids manage not to hurt each other with them, and they have survived a week of constant play. I don't know how long they are going to last, but so far so good. (Why would you require toys to have educational value?)

Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber
I have to agree with the review below, whoever came up with the idea of putting in a vibrating motor at Hasbro should be fired. Not only is the vibrating stupid (duh it vibrates just by striking something), but it makes this loud awful sound. Kind of like a vibrating cell phone. However, I found a simple solution. If you carefully unscrew all of the screws, beginning with the battery cover, and carefully pry open the two sides you can see the motor. Try and locate the red and black wires connecting to the motor and cut one of them. Make sure to either cut a section out or move the severed ends away so they don't rub and still complete the circuit. Voila no more annoying vibration, but still the sound and light. I understand some work is involved, however it's worth it. Maybe Hasbro will come out with a new one without the motor. I wouldn't be surprised if they've received tons of complaints.I bought this one and my brother bought the Anakin lightsaber. Why? because someone has to be Obi-Wan. May the force be with you.

why does it have to vibrate?
what is the point of makeing a toy that vibrates when it strikes something? its already going to vibrate on its own because it hit something. the previous sound effects lightsabers took two D batteries. this one used three AA's which saves space, which was filled with a motor to make it vibrate. if you took out the motor and moved the lamp down right next to the speaker it would only take up about 1/3 of the hilt. you could then shorten the blade about 2 inches and make a lightsaber with a %100 retractable blade. great amount of detail though for a $20 childrens toy.

A reveiw to rely on. Really!
Okay. Well, I recently purchased this lightsaber and am very pleased. I am a die hard Obi-Wan fan and this is probably my favorite of all.(Considering they do not make an Obi-Wan Force FX). It has a good light that won't fade, and is awesome in a dark room. The sound-effects are fairly loud, and the lights flash for start up/turn off. Two complaints: The saber does not fully retract into the hilt. This is okay, because it means that the hilt can be skinny, and well detailed, as it should be. Second, The battle clash comes with a loud buzz and rumble effect through the hilt. This is the "special effect" that comes with all the ROTS sabers, however it is different for each model. This buzz-rumble is very annoying when dueling. Still, this saber is well worth the money, and remember this: Anakin once said 'Obi-Wan is as wise as Yoda, and as powerful as Mater Windu!' May the force be with you all.Peter Out.

Obi-Wan Electronic Lightsaber
This lighsaber is an electronic plastic replica of Obi-Wan's lightsaber from Episode 3. I owned two of these and they ended up breaking, but I did hardcore dueling with them. I love this version because the thin neck is amazing, close to the real thing. If you want a cheap durable replica, this is the one for you!
