Q: Hello, can some of the hooks be completely removed so that there are less books?

They don’t look removable to me unless they you complete take it apart.

Q: How good is this for holding baseball hats?

Once you adjust it to the door ( hardest part because it has a lot of extra for a standard door/ which I wrapped around at the bottom) each hook has its own adjustment mechanism that allows you to make adjustments easily and lock them into place. As long as there is a brim it should hang perfectly. Baseball caps will definitely sit great on these.

Q: Can this be reduced in height to fit over a cabinet door?

Yes , you can adjust nylon tape to match you want the height , and you can adjust spacing between the hooks also . there are plastic lock below each hooks to keep moving and adjustable . If you think there are too many hooks and you don’t want to use some of them, you can adjust the unused hooks to the bottom. Just let them stay here .

Q: Will this fit an extra tall door? Our doors are either 8' or 9' tall and have bought hat holders similar to this that dont fit the height.

It's very long. I hand on a standard door and have to tie up the excess on the end so that it doesn't drag on the floor. So yes. I would recommend it, even for extra tall doors
