3 Years of Grilling Excellence!!
First off, I love this grill! I had originally purchased this grill as an entry point into more serious charcoal grilling/smoking, now 3 years later that investment was worth every penny. The I use the grill 3-4x per week, and besides minor maintenance it has held up extremely well. My Kamander is all metal (before plastic component remodel), as such I have only had to replace hitch-pin connectors and washers for the grill handle. One recommendation for anyone considering this grill, is to buy the Kamander Stone heat deflector. I can honestly say that the stone makes a big improvement when trying to go low and slow, so much so that the grill is incomplete without it.Regarding cooks:• I have regularly taken this grill to 900+ degrees for true high heat searing• This grill has been instrumental for holiday cooks, thanksgiving turkey & Christmas ham• When full with large block lump charcoal, this grill has a serous low n’ slow burn time (easily 12-18+ hours; managed one 24 hour super low n slow cook without adding more coal).Pros:1. All in one kamado style: Grill, Smoke, Bake2. Price to performance exceptional3. Metal design vs ceramics/stone means no worrying about replacement inserts4. Side table built on. This is a seriously overlooked benefit.5. Fits standard size aluminum trays between stone and grill grateCons:1. Discontinued, so future support & replacement parts questionable2. Need to purchase heat deflector separately3. Reports of issues with plastic components on remodeled grills

Crazy price inflation
I first bought this grill in 2017 For around $350 and it has given good service. I have kept it covered, but it is out in the weather and has stood up fairly well. The Cast-iron ceramic grill has finally begun to have significant rust on it. I thought I might just replace the Whole kamado But when I looked at Amazon, the price is gone up to $850!!! truly, the ceramic grills are not much more. I will just be replacing the grill top and continuing to go forward with the existing body of the grill until it finally fails. At that point, I probably will get a ceramic as the price is closer to it now. .

The Kamander works great!
I user this every day it doesn't rain, retired. It heats up fast with the vents wide open which is a bonus I use one starter and do not use a chimney. It also is easy to regulate the heat for low and slow. In the time I've owned I smoked ribs a few times, chicken, wings a number of times. Seared burgers, steaks and sausage all perfectly done.On mine the thermometer reads 50 degrees f too high, 250 degrees reads 300. Used a digital thermal probe to verify the temp. I had to be a metal smith to get the table to fit, one corner that mounts to the grill was bent. Assembly was easy.It is also very efficient with lump charcoal.

MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK WITH THIS GRILL
This grill was far easier to assemble than the instructions imply. The instructions state that 2 people can put it together in 90 minutes. I unpacked all the parts moved them to the living room and assembled the grill by myself in about 45 minutes while leisurely watching TV. I really like this grill and am impressed with the design. I wanted a ceramic kamado but they tend to be far more expensive and if the accidentally tip over they smash into a million ceramic bits. This one will not. I like the air intake valve on the foldable table on the right side of the grill. Nice innovation there. I fired it up to about 1000 degrees the first time I used it and let it hold that temp for a while to see if it would. It held that temp for about an hour before I brought the temp down to actually cook something. It's easy to clean. The only drawback is that if you are going to smoke with it - you will need to occasionally add more fuel which will not be so easy with a steaming pan of water and a grill to remove in order to access the coals. I suppose that is a similar design challenge with all but 1 kamado I have seen that offers a port on the side designed for adding fuel while smoking. All things considered it is a very well designed and sturdy grill. For the money it offers a lot of bang for the buck compared to other kamado/egg designed grills.
