Good Helmet Mount
I have two of these, one permanently mounted to a helmet I use for night riding. It is a solid mount. As long as you don't actually bump the light or the switch that allows dismounting the light, the light stays on.The advantage of a 2nd light mounted on the helmet (the 1st being on the bike), is that I can turn it on or off as needed, and when on it points in the direction you're looking. That allows me to point it at oncoming traffic to guarantee they see me. And if there is something off to the side of the trail (like an animal), I can track it.

Helmet mount works great.
The helmet mount works great, I added my 100 Nightrider light to it and works great. I suggest to not go larger than a 100 lumen light with this setup. Lights get heavy.

good way to mount a light
Got this to mount a MiNewt 150 on my helmet, and it's working well so far. It's kind of a tie-down thing with some pipe-insulation-like rubber under the plastic foot/pedestal to keep it from sliding around on the helmet. I've had it for about 2-3 weeks, so I can't comment on durability, but it has the same quick-release setup as the handlebar mount packaged with the 150. It tilts front and back, though not side-to-side. I'm using it with a Bell road helmet, and had no problems mounting it right in the center--as long as you have symmetrical vents in your helmet, you should be ok.Good StuffWith the right adjustments, you can get a good view of what's (well) ahead of you, and having it helmet-mounted allows you to pan and sweep the road ahead for pointy stuff and potholes. I also use it to alert drivers when approaching intersections--a quick look left and right gives a flash in their direction to get attention. The on-helmet setup seems to allow for longer "reach" from the light as well. One added bonus--drivers of high-profile vehicles (monster trucks, etc.) are more likely to see you since the light is well above the handlebars.Notes and ConcernsIf going for long rides in the dark, I'd recommend keeping a small blinky on the handlebars to complement the helmet mount (if you're not looking straight-ahead, your light isn't either). The mount is also made mainly of plastic--not sure what that does for long-term durability--may want to take it off if not doing night/dark rides, to minimize UV damage in the sun, etc. The mount does make the light sit rather high on the head, so it's not going to improve your aerodynamics or get you any style points (like a Roman centurion helmet profile), and it of course adds a bit of weight to the helmet.OverallI'd recommend this, especially for anyone who rides in the dark frequently or for long periods of time.

NiteRider products rule!
I've had several NR Lumina lights over the past 10 or 15 years and can't say enough about their quality. They are bright and sharp and easy to operate and adjust, even with gloves. Their machined metal casing is incredibly well built and durable, with a heat sink exoskeleton, and are highly water resistant (a number of rides in the rain and mud, no problem). I ride pretty hard on rough terrain and even in crashes have yet to break a light. I mount a 1200 on my bar and a 650 on my helmet ~ and incredible combo that allows for total black forest rides. The mounting options are also very durable and shock resistant. I've never had a light come off on a ride, no matter how rough. And their customer service is fantastic. When I finally over-stretched the elastic strap on my seat post mount, they rushed a replacement without question or even proof of purchase. Love these guys!

Heavy Duty Straps/Light positioning versatility
I've been reading all the reviews the past few days and finally met someone who actually owns the helmet mount strap. He's a mtb'r and rides mostly single track....so there's a lot of shaking going on. He's never had any issues with looseness, positioning, etc. I asked if I could take it off his helmet and really look at the attachment system. The straps are heavy duty and the fastening system is solid and securely mounts the mount to your helmet. The base of the mount is thick rubber which contours to the top of any helmet. Although I own the standard clamp, I find that the versatility of having a helmet mounted light is superior to a "static" handlebar mounted system. Additionally, you avoid the hassle of taking the clamp off one bike and mounting it to another. I'll post back in bit to give you the latest comments! Ride Safe!UPDATE: Ok, it’s been a long time since I wrote my first review and can honestly say that I absolutely love this helmet mount. There are no signs of deterioration or fraying of the straps. The rubber is solid and shows no sign of wear. I do keep it out of the sun when I’m not using it and use a ziploc bag if I won’t be using it for extended periods. Based on this empirical review, it’s time you buy this mount!!
