A beautifully crafted game for two!
I bought Everdell as a gift for my wife and we mostly enjoy playing it just the two of us, but it's fun with 4 players just as much. It's beautiful game with exquisite artwork and a very immersive theme, where players take turns placing woodland creature workers and playing cards to build a thriving forest city across the changing seasons. It’s easy to learn in a couple of rounds, but deep enough to stay engaging every time we bring it to the table. The game components are high quality, and the collector's edition we own also adds extra cards, more meeples to choose from and metal tokens that are not found in the standard version. Very recommended!

Easy to learn, fun to play, lots of replayability
This is a super fun game with quality components. This game is easy to learn, and there is a play through video on you tube that runs just over 17 minutes that makes learning how to play even easier. I was going to kickstart this game, but somehow I forgot to back it. So I bought the collector's edition and all the expansions on Amazon from Tabletop Tycoons, which they packed the games very well and I received well ahead of schedule. This game has a lot of replayability and it is a different game each time you play. That is very important to me when buying games because I want to be able to play them time and again. This is also a great game for the whole family to sit around the table for family game time. The art work is amazing and the game components are cleverly made. The price of the game is very much worth it for the quality of the game and the fun family time you are going to get from playing it. This is a game that is going to be on our gaming table very frequently. I hope this helps you in your decision making about purchasing the game. Have fun board gaming and I sincerely hope that you enjoy this game as much as my family and I do playing this game.

Great game!
We always play catan, so this was a nice change! It was very easy to learn and the depth of strategy great. The first time we played it took longer than usual. But after the first go around it moved faster. The components are beautiful!

Must for family fun (older kids that play strategically)
Fantastic game, fun, and totally replay able. Not simple or straightforward... Strategy changes considerably based on changing game board.

Our Favorite Board Game Immediately
The game is really fun and right away became our family's favorite board game. The collectors edition comes with some upgraded tokens and some additional cards to use but the standard version would work just as well if price was a factor. Since the collectors was available, I went with that one. We watched a 30 minute YouTube video explaining the game while we were waiting for it to come in and that really helped us grasp the rules and concept when we sat down to play for the first time. We still had to use boardgamegeek website to clarify some of the rules for some of the cards, but overall it's a lot of fun. You use resources like berries (the best feeling resources in the game), twigs, resin, and pebbles to purchase cards that are either critters or construction (general store, twig barge, courthouse, etc) cards that you play to build your city. The game is played out over 4 seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, and finally Autumn). The person with the most points (combination of points on cards, money tokens, and other factors) is the winner. Depending on the players skill it can be highly complex and you can score in the high 50s or low 60s (at least for us) or it can be played laid back with low scoring but less emphasis on complexity. Complexity involves really knowing what the card abilities can do and using that to maximize the amount of points you have, discarding cards you don't want, stretching out how far your resources take you, and how fast you go through the seasons. It's very family friendly and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cool looking board game that has both depth and fun.

Collector's edition is great!
Everdell is a fun game with a light enough complexity to appeal to (or at least be tolerable) to most in the party-type game set, but has enough complexity to still entertain those who like higher complexity (more like Agricola or Caverna.) The game is very cute. The artwork is amazing. The pieces are so fun, like the bouncy little berries. The miniatures are cute wooden woodland creatures. This set came with an expansion built-in, which I didn't even notice since it was my first play of it. If you think you'd like this game, I'd get this collector's edition.

Wonderfully themed game...
Pros: -Easy to learn -Quality game pieces -Cards are plastic coated...like a deck of playing cards...very durable and easy to shuffle -Packed in a durable crush-proof box. No chance of this game getting damaged in shipping, because of the shoddy Amazon packaging...i.e Game thrown loosely into an oversized box with 1 piece of bubble packaging. Cons: -The tree The tree is manufactured with extremely tight tolerances, making it extremely difficult to put together. The slits are too narrow. To say the assembly process is stiff is an understatement. It took quite a bit of pressure to assemble all the pieces to where it was flush with the table. With repeated breakdown and assembly, I am convinced the tree's edges will become frayed over a short period of time. For these reasons, I simply leave the tree assembled, which makes storage a bit awkward. -Extra assembly of the occupied tokens You pay this much for a game, you shouldn't have to finish the general assembly by putting tiny little stickers on tiny little game pieces. As someone with not a lot of dexterity in their fingers, this was downright annoying. -Game tray insert A lot of space is wasted with the game tray insert. It would have been helpful to have a bit more space to fit storage containers or make a couple more smaller trays in the insert for the smaller pieces. Ziploc bags are of the devil and should only be a solution for shipping a game, not permanent storage. Conclusion -------------- Despite the listed cons, this version of Everdell an extremely nice edition of the game and quite possibly the nicest game I own. The cards all by themselves are simply beautiful. The game is easy to learn. With each turn, you have a ton of choices to make. If you're prone to analysis paralysis, you might feel overwhelmed at first. As you get the hang of the mechanics, the game becomes easier and turns become much quicker. Normally this would easily be a 5 star game, but due to the listed cons, Everdell gets 4 stars.

Great game but not the price
Ok I still gave the purchase a 5 star because it’s a great game for me and I don’t mind the price, but for $100 vs $60 just for metal coins and some small additions I am not sure justifies that $40 round up for everyone, I’d say it’s more for a completionist. For the game itself I loved it, it was a much more complex version of Catan in the aspects of resource management. It was a bit more complicated than wingspan in the engine building aspect, and a little harder to learn but not hard in my opinion. I don’t think it would appeal to people that only like simplicity such as catan but will for those who are looking for something more complex and are patient to give it a try. The first season or round of the game is slower then the rest and will have you asking how am I supposed to get any points? But as you slowly build your engine things start to make sense, so just be patient and open minded because there’s a great game in here. Personally I think wingspan is better and has cleaner mechanics for achieving a similar vibe, but I believe Everdell is more rewarding at the end when you win because of how much you keep track of.
