Best of the Chew Guard Brand Toys - these last as long as the good ole boys on Duck Dynasty
I first purchased these Duck dog toys at a Dollar Tree in Brookings, OR and each were just $1.00. What a fabulous deal so I bought four of them. Then I returned a day later to buy all the had and the store was sold out. I recognized the Chew Guard company as one where I had purchased the stuff Dragons my dogs enjoyed so much. They especially like the Ducks because of the "honk" versus the traditional squeak. The Ducks have held up better than the Dragons. I have tossed them into the wash (probably not recommended) when they got dirty and they came out fine with the honker in tact. I've probably washed the first round of Ducks maybe 6 times each after getting drug through the dirt, snow, and accumulation of crunchy dog saliva. A piece of foot might have gotten chewed off here and there but the main body of the Ducks remain just fine. A bit a sewing and ER (emergency repair) of appendages fixing the Duck took much less time than repairs to the Dragons. My dogs are 55 and 65 lbs with teeth like gators. I bought two of the Dragons and one Duck this time and of course they both want the Duck. Guess I"m going to have to buy another one of them. But they are a good investment. My first round of Ducks are over two years old and may not look pleasing to my eyes but functionally they still work great. The Dragons don't hold up as well as the Ducks. I've washed and repaired both kinds many times. Purchased replacement squeakers for the Dragons and make a surgical incision down the belly to remove and replace the defective and worn out squeakers. But these Ducks just keep going and going. Even with repeated washing and drying they still work just fine. I would only retire them when they got so dirty that the washing machine and dryer just can not rehabilitate them. But that may be another couple years. Dog toys don't last years in my household. The Chew Guard brand has worked the best for me. They are not however, chew proof. No stuff toy is chew proof or at least I have never found one and I buy many stuffed toys.I honestly don't care about the Duck Dynasty character Ducks and with the first ones I cut off the little brown beards as they were just too tempting to chew on. Don't know which character I marred by cutting off their beard. Despise the chew-tempting little pieces their construction and endurance is remarkable. I've play a little bit of tug with them but not much cause the honker might get damaged and I don't know if I can replace them. My younger dog constantly does the kill shake with all her stuffed toys and the Ducks endure. The Dragons have endured the kill shakes but the stuffing has slightly moved to either end of the Dragon body.I would highly recommend the Ducks in the Chew Guard Brand even if you have no interest in the Duck Dynasty TV series or characters. They are very, very well constructed, sturdy toys that last for years. However, an unsupervised, aggressive chewer could destroy these. Supervision and correction of chewing behaviors is essential. It took several times catching the younger girl chewing of the Duck's feet and letting her know I did not like that behavior for her to stop. Take some repetition but chewing, like any behavior can be modified. I provide appropriate alternative chewing toys and treats like Bully Sticks to satisfy their need to chew.

My black lab loves this thing!
My black labrador retriever loves this thing! I purchased another one some time ago but the squeaker has been silenced and the exterior is showing wear. Surprisingly, it hasn't been torn apart like past toys. It's very durable. This one is constructed with the same material and will probably last another few years. My dog loves to play tug-of-war with it so I'm very careful not to pull the toy by holding on to the neck. He also likes to play retrieve with it.

My Dog Can't LIve Without Duck Dynasty Phil
My adopted dog, Coco, came to me with this toy. She is pretty rough on her play things so the old one suffered a traumatizing neck injury. I was going to sew it but then saw that the same toy was being sold here at a reasonable price. i don't know how old the last one was but the one I got from Amazon has survived throwing/fetching, being flung around by its neck, and tug of war with her foster brothers. Coco also uses it as a 'pleasure toy'. LOL. So far, it still looks good.

Toy of choice for our Toller!
Awesome toy for our dog. For some reason, he LOVES this toy above all others. He will tear all the other toys to shreds but this one he will let remain in one piece. And when he wants to play, this is the first one he will go to. This is actually the second one of these we had to purchase. We were afraid that one day he would destroy the one he had and we wouldn't have a spare. This was the spare. Highly recommended for Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers! Hehe

Cute but small pieces make it easy for dogs to tear
I have purchased three of the "chew guard" Duck Dynasty toys for my two boxers and they have not held up like the other chew guard toys. These all seem to have some parts that are small enough for the dogs to really get a grip on and chew up and tear off easily...whether it be the hair on Miss Kay or the beard on Si, it has been an issue. I keep buying them because they love them while they last and they do make a cute duck sounding squeak noise but they just need to figure out a way to make them more durable.

Super durable
I purchased one of 4 years ago for my pit bull Luna. She loves this toy. After all thee years the stuffing has come out. She still loves it with no stuffing. I just purchased her a new one for more years of fun. She carry it everywhere.

Definitely lasting through my dog's ability to rip things to ...
Definitely lasting through my dog's ability to rip things to shreds. Just a medium sized dog but she tears EVERYTHING apart. I mean everything. Her other toys end up with the filling pulled out all over the house. This hasn't been bitten open (yet).

nearly indestructible
My pitbull loves her ducks. The first had a shorter lifespan since she was determined to silence the inner quacker and eventually operated to retrieve it. A few stiches and good as new. The second one has been reserved for duck hunt training. We pretend to fire the shotgun...throw it across the living room..and she returns it in one piece. Learned its built tough..but anything a dog can work on for hours..will be short lived. Happy with the purchase..price..and fun times.
