my 3rd grader who is struggling with reading LOVES these books! They are funny and keep her interest the whole way through

My 4 year old boy was engaged enough we read through all 3 books in one sitting for he had to know what happens next. The stories can be repetitive, but that is enjoyed by little minds for they can predict what is going to happen and later have an easier time with reading on their own. Cute story and beautiful illustrations!

Love love love these books!! Princess and hero. Nothing too scary. Funny for all ages. Great for advanced k and 1st grade reading. Probably great thru 3rd.

I got this set to read to a 2 and 4 year old and they are hooked and have asked for them every day this week. We immediately ordered the second set. Cute stories with colorful illustrations on every page are fantastic for the littler crowd, there is enough repetition that they can chime in occasionally but I'm not bored, they get the perfect amount of frilly pink princess content balanced with strong independent empowered princess content, and the sentences are short and simple enough that when the 4 year old is ready to practice reading in the next year or two these should be great to work her way up to. This should be an add to cart no brainer for any kids 2-7 once they can sit still and listen to a few chapters or are ready to practice reading chapter books themselves.

I had not heard of this series. I stumbled upon it & decided to give it a try, buying both box sets. Gave it to each of my 5 year old grands for xmas. These books were a hit. Great stories. Fun illustrations. Wonderful series. I have no doubt they will love reading these to me as their reading skills grow. I chuckle when we read these stories. It’s wonderful to find a book series with a princess super hero. So much fun & a wonderfully positive message. Girls are awesome & kind super heroes.

At first I found all books super similar to each other. The stories are pretty similar and the same words are used over and over again but then I noticed how it makes my kid happy that she basically recognizes words without reading letter by letter. It made her read faster and more confident. Definitely recommend!

My 4 and 7 year old boys love Princess in Black stories at bedtime. We have read them several times. Mr 7 does not like to read books to himself but happily reads several chapters at a time to the family dog. He is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next book in the set so we can keep following the princess and her friends.
