DEF Ignition Coil for Stihl MS311 MS391 MS311Z MS391Z Chainsaw Replaces 1140 400 1303 1140 1305 B

The coil was received quickly and fit correctly. It has been working fine. I hope it last longer than the original from stihl. The stihl coil only worked for about 5 to 6 hours, then died.

Started right up and works like a champ

When installing be careful where the little box part sits. If not in the right position it will interfere with the crank. Easy to adjust for that though.

I had my MS391 in the shop twice for not starting and each time I was told it was just flooded. Rather than take it into the shop again I decided to replace the ignition coil myself. I installed the DEF coil and it started on the second pull and ran great. It has never started that easy.

Installed coil and the saw would kickback when pulling the rope to start, used saw for less than a day and the coil failed caused the saw to have a no start condition again. Ordered a replacement under warranty, no problem, installed the 2nd coil and the kickback starting problem the same on this coil. Went to the STIHL Dealer and bought the 70 dollar OEM replacement coil and shazam starting problem no longer exists, starts up with no kickback. Have used this OEM coil now for several weeks with no problem. Mechanic at the Stihl Dealer said this kickback is a common problem with the aftermarket coils.

3 things are required on all combustion engines to at the very minimum try to start. Air, fuel and spark. Air is simple, so it's almost fuel or spark. Often times in small engines like chainsaws it can be both. Both are easy to check. I used a multimeter to test the old coil. Zero ohms. New coil 5.5, obviously the issue. New coil arrived quickly and worked perfectly. WILL use this seller again.

Fit the 391Be sure to maintain a gap between the coil and the flywheel or it will quickly destroy the coil.

Installed new coil on my ms391. Saw ran great. Fell one tree and saw died next cut. Changed spark plugs but still no spark. Spend the money and buy genuine parts, I can tell you from experience when you need your saw you need it now.

Ignition coil arrived with the terminals bent and the steel core bent .I managed to straighten both and the product worked fine.Very annoying at the time As I thought it might have to be returned.
