Works, but...
The adapter works great and allowed me to connect my external drive enclosure to an internal SAS card. I was unable to test throughput and drive performance however. This is due to me using a Dell PERC 710 raid controller. Evidently if the PERC card is configured by the firmware to be an internal card, you cannot connect them to an external drive enclosure. You will get a stop error of "Unsupported Configuration" and the computer will not boot. So please read the documentation for your SAS controller before purchasing this.

Whom ever designed these really messed up some details!
First I will say that so far they working and doing their job well, but whomever designed them clearly never tried to install them into various styles of cases. First and biggest problem is that the low profile bracket is facing the wrong way. Low profile cases and brackets all have the screw hole on the other side and it's facing to the left, but this one has them designed like a standard height slot. Thankfully the small form factor case I installed this in won't be affected too much as I am only using it to store the drives that will be used, and it has no motherboard or any other cards.Second is I was not able to make this thing flush with the other computer I needed to use it on. The card is so tall in the wrong place and butts up against parts on my motherboard, no matter what slot I put it in. Same issue with the SFF as my other case has both types of slots. Thanks to the unique design of my second case, I was able to find a place for it in the full size slot, but not where I needed it to be, and I still sort of had to force it as the bracket has this little lip on it that was causing issues with hitting the plastic of my case, but that may be a problem specific to my case.So while they are working great, someone really messed up on the SFF brackets. I just do not know how they did not realize this.

Inexpensive and very handy
This turned out to be a great value for us. We were able to reuse existing internal HBAs using this by giving up just one unused external slot which was not a problem with our server hardware. Containing both the regular and small form factor brackets saves a good bit of money as these can add up if you need to purchase them individually. We saved at least half by using these with existing internal cards over buying new built in external cards. This made the purchase price a total non-issue so we added a few more to the parts box just in case.

This is a complete and total design failure.
The bracket does not align properly, and it is NOT SUITABLE for use in a 2U server. It should also be noted, that the fastener on the top of the bracket goes to the right, not to the left (like every other card sold in North America). This will cause problems when used with other adapters. The card is designed so that when the low-profile bracket is used, the anchor flange hits the motherboard, preventing the bracket from properly seating the slot. This is a complete and total design failure.

Good internal to external SFF-8087 to SFF-8088 adapter for expansion slot.
Using these to allow a single cable connection between a system and an external drive bay, rather than four SATA cables. I didn't need both ports (but checked both just to be sure), but I may expand my use for it later.Works fine, and having locking connections instead of eSATA (that can just fall out) is a confidence booster.

Doesn't fit in computer properly with short bracket
I was able to make this board work but I had to modify both the bracket and the card itself. I had to cut about 1/2" off the bottom of the board along with the lower bracket hole. The short bracket also has the retainer screw pointing in the wrong direction. If you don't feel comfortable making extreme modifications to the cards you put in your low profile computer then you don't want this card. It would probably work fine for full height card installation.

Works as described
Works for SFF-8088 to SFF-8087, no issues. From the SFF-8087 port, I use a SFF-8087 to 4x SATA connectors and tested all of the connections and they are working perfectly.
