The solar (or any light source) charges the battery If it gets enough room light every day or just a little solar the battery stays charged all the time

You'll have to set it to alarm to suite

Can it tell military time?

Jeremy, yes you can and also back to the future time! Don't get it. The hands on the watch are cheaply made. They don't tell time anymore. The hands move back and forth loosely. I will not be buying anymore of these. Very disappointed because I really liked the design on this. Now I am stuck on trying to read the digital numbers only.
