The Toxic Tooth: How a root canal could be making you sick

how root canals work... and dont work. Worthwhile, informative, easy to understand resource
Such an informative read. I have been staying up way past my bedtime these past couple nights as I couldnt put the book down. It reads well, has easy to follow and understand information, and it is eye opening. Plenty of references and other medical science to back up the information. Glad to see some pioneers in dentistry mentioned (Weston Price). The electronic copy is perfectly fine, but I should have purchased the paperback copy. I tend to prefer a hard copy in hand when it comes to reference books, but I wasn't sure if this was something that would be worth adding to my library, so I went with the cheapest option (which happened to be the Kindle option as the paperback was nearly double in price at time of purchase). WOW, I think I need to buy the paper copy too. I say this because it is easier to refer back on a physical book than it is on an e:reader--for me. Figured I would say this in case you are at all like me.I have, well HAD two teeth that had root canal therapy. I had been suspect of the procedure and subsequent presenting systemic health issue/s. When trying to figure something out, I'm one to follow the logic, follow the science, and also follow the money. Sometimes it has been a challenge to find info since most of the time I saw mention of any of this only on blogs and sites that are way too "woo" for me. So while I was suspect of the procedure, I have been suspect of the information sources. This book pleases me. I have been sniffing around the long term effect of root canaled teeth for several years now. Part of me didn't want to know too much because I was living with two teeth received this "therapy". Not like I was going to be able to just have them taken out. Or would I?This time last week, I had those molars removed. Both on the left side of my mouth, one upper and one lower. What precipitated this is that I had a bump form on the gum at the lower root canaled tooth. 2D and 3D imaging showed shadowing and a crack- so infection and a compromised tooth structure. It was in looking at this tooth, that a similar shadowing was shown in the upper root canaled molar. It was determined in the spot that these teeth would have to come out. OK!! While I wasn't keen on going through this, and I knew I would want an implant in the lower (second to last molar, so more chomping than say the upper which is last molar), and the expense would be nearly $5K, I knew it would be a GOOD thing. I also knew I never want another root canal ever again- extract and put in an implant. So a week later, I sit here with 2 less teeth. Upper was just extracted and given a couple dissolvable stitches. The lower (which will get implant), had a bone graft and stitches to be removed in 3 more weeks. Just finished a round of antibiotics. Healing seems to be going well. I'm amping up my antioxidants, especially vitamin C (and recently ordered some liposomal C).Will I notice any improvement to health? Has the root canal therapy contributed to any of the health issues I have been dealing with since having said therapy? I'm curious! It could be placebo, and it could be the fact that I haven't been eating much (especially sugar), so I am not sure if my boost in energy is attributed to the actual removal or not. I am keeping track. I have other metrics I will be paying attention to (BP, especially), and the timing happens to be around the time that I will be getting lab work done as well as regular doctors visit. I will be letting them know about my extractions. Curious if they will have comment. Medical doctors and dentists need to have more overlapI tend to keep up with my reviews, but I am especially keen on doing so here if I learn or experience anything worth sharing.I think this is a worthwhile read. I truly may try to pick up a paper copy so I can make easier notes and be able to refer back. If I had any suugestions, it would be to include more pics, or greater primer on the physical tooth. But the lack of that is minimal compared to the wealth of info on how root canals work... and dont work.

Potential health & life-saving information
Research done 100 years ago by Dr. Weston Price showed that root canals were a flawed therapy for dealing with abscessed teeth. Sealing off the tooth cuts it off from the body's natural healing potential. There is no way for disease-fighting cells to get into the tooth. The seal eventually fails within a few years allowing the toxic chemicals generated by bacteria trapped inside the tooth to seep into the rest of the body. These toxins attack other organs and result in debilitating systemic diseases. If an infected tooth cannot be healed by natural means or antibiotics you are better off having it extracted than to undergo a root canal. The problem is that the ADA exerts a lot of pressure and propaganda urging people to get root canals. It takes a lot of self-determination to resist this pressure. Reading this book will help you gain the confidence to defy the orthodox, but incorrect assertion that root canals are "safe and effective."

Read this book if you're torn about removing a root canal tooth
I'm so glad that I found this book while going through months of hell with dental pain when the dentist, endodontist and oral surgeon could not find anything wrong other than an inflamed nerve, following two invasive procedures that didn't fix anything and made things worse. It convinced me to fight to get a root canaled tooth from 2013 removed. I was only allowed to do this after trying a root canal retreatment, and even then, I had to demand, this is what I want after forking over a high amount of dollars for the retreatment. Through this ordeal, I've lost over 10 pounds since it's been difficult to eat and I haven't felt well. Having read the book, I was better prepared to understand that no one would believe me and that the best strategy to take was not to mention any doubts about the root canal procedure itself but instead, to focus on the pain - otherwise, the oral surgeon would be reluctant to pull it. Upon pulling the tooth, it was diagnosed as cracked under the gum line and appeared to have flesh growing into it. I can only imagine what toxins have been irritating my gum tissue and nerves over the years, let alone the rest of my body because mysteriously, I have had a lot of autoimmune issues pop up this year.I am recovering, one month after having the tooth pulled, I'm at 80% recovery at this point re: my mouth, and completely off of ibuprofen. I still have some gum irritation and sensitivity at the extraction site so not 100%. I will need to see an integrative medicine specialist because I have had several autoimmune issues pop up this year - connection to the tooth? - and these are not completely gone yet - I need to learn how to manage them. These autoimmune / inflammation issues do not run in my gene pool. What is sad to me is that I seem to have some type of gum inflammation going on, which I pointed out repeatedly to the professionals months ago, yet they kept coming back to the need to do invasive procedures and caused nerve damage. But, if they had listened to me 8 months ago instead of doing more invasive procedures, I may have avoided the two months of excruciating pain and nerve damage in the first place. What I knew in my head before having the tooth pulled was even if nothing odd was found re: the tooth itself from the dentist's perspective, I needed to get this out from an autoimmune disease standpoint and a chance at healing my tooth nerve.

Read it, absorb it, act upon it, and reclaim your health now.
Jam packed full of irrefutable TRUTH! I found that once I began reading it that I couldn't put it down. I'm booked in to have all amalgams removed tomorrow. I'd recommend you do the same. Dr. Kulacz lost everything he owned in order to share this information with the world for the greater good. A truly honourable Earth angel

A must read if you have/or are considering root canals.
A no nonsense book confirming that root canals can cause systemic disease. I was so outraged when Netflix withdrew the documentary 'Root Cause', after huge pressures from the Dental Associations of America........I would urge people to watch it from various other sites. I suppose at the end of the day, it is all about making money!!!!

Important subject, but one-dimensional approach
The book is good and bad at the same time.First, the pros:The topic is extremely important. Root canal treated teeth of millions of people undermine their health every single day. Sooner or later dentists must recognize this truth. Hopefully, this book will help change the current situation. Now, the cons:The approach the authors suggest is extremely one-dimensional. Robert Kulacz is a dentist. And basically he proposes only one solution - extracting the tooth. As far as the prevention goes - this section is tiny and basically consists of brushing your teeth, flossing, irrigating and taking vitamins. The authors miss the essential part of Dr. Weston Price's research - the importance of food. They mentioned his name hundred times, but not a word about his food protocols. If you are interested in preventing teeth problems I suggest checking the following two books:1) Cure Tooth Decay by Ramiel Nagel2) Breath by James NestorFantastic books! You will find real recommendations what you can do _yourself_ without the need to go to a dentist. For me now the main 3 causes of teeth problems are:1) consumption of unhealthy food (avoid sugar/grains at all cost)2) mouth is kept open (tape it shut during the night). The only time you are allowed to open your mouth is when you speak or sing. That's it!3) consumption of soft/liquid food. The chewing muscles are not stimulated enough and the jaw bones don't receive a signal to grow. Unlike most of other bones in our body, these bones can grow even when you are over 60! Think how much vegetables you should chew to get the recommended amount of vitamin C and compare it to swallowing a vitamin pill.If only I knew it when I was young!Even if you brush/floss/take vitamins, but still eat donuts and soft processed food every day and sleep with your mouth open at night, there's no way your teeth will remain healthy.Another thing the authors forgot is oil pulling. It was designed specifically to extract toxins.I would rate the book 3, but I add one point for the importance of the subject.Hope this helps!
