desertcart.com: Sea Turtles (National Geographic Kids Readers, Level 2): 9781426308536: Marsh, Laura, National Geographic Kids: Books Review: Sea Turtles - This book gives general information about sea turtles, where and how they live, the different types of turtles, and why they are endangered. I confess, I didn't really think that I would learn anything new from this book, after all it is for beginning readers, but I did learn some cool new things. For example, the leatherback turtle is not only the biggest sea turtle species (up to 7 feet long), but it doesn't have a hard shell, just rubbery skin with small bones underneath. Here are some of the things that I loved about this book: The book starts with a riddle, a perfect way to introduce the book (you'll need to hide the cover to do this). There are fun riddles/jokes throughout the book (kids love riddles and jokes). The bright, clear illustrations match the text perfectly. The captions that identify the kind of turtle in each photograph. The glossary that defines key words and shows a picture to help the reader understand each term. A fill-in-the-blank paragraph at the end that helps students use the new vocabulary. I highly recommend this book and others in the series for students who love animals, jokes, and cool facts to share. Review: Great series, even for toddlers! - My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!

Great book!
Bought this for my 7 year old grandson. He loved it! The reading level was a good match for him, too! Bought another one in the series about sharks, giving it to him for his birthday.

Nice book
My son loves the book. The binding need improvement as some pages fall off after a few months.

My four year old is fascinated by this book!
This book has a lot of nice pictures that really grabbed my daughters attention. She was fascinated by the way the baby turtles find the ocean and by the size of the leatherback. My daughter is not a reader, so I read this to her. I can't speak to the appropriateness of the language for the suggested reading level. However, the font was a good size and there was not too much text on each page...typically about 2 sentences. I will definitely be buying a lot more books from this series!

Bought for 7 year old nephew who loves turtles. Lots of facts about the different types of turtle and some turtle-related jokes add a fun element. The book is a bit smaller than I expected but lovely colourful pictures with text size and content suitable for his age. He will love it Iām sure.
